Re: A late afternoon bonus - 9 May 2019

Thanks for the encouragement everyone 😁 I was pleased with how well it came out - I grinned when I noticed the spicules! I'll avoid large file sizes in future (the 1600 does produce big ones!!). I also need to work out how to correctly orientate the image...

Re: Finally a good Quark

:D My dealer (Astrograph) is about to send mine back. He is suggesting we say no to the replacement option as he said he checked mine originally as ok and that can't be guaranteed for a new one. Given mine is 4 years old, I'd be tempted to go new if possible as I assume their consistency/quality con...

A late afternoon bonus - 9 May 2019

There were some gaps in the cloud late this afternoon so I thought I'd play. This is a solarscope SF70 set on a Megrez72, and an asi1600 mono with 2.5 powermate. Captured with sharpcap, stacked in as!3, sharpened in IMPPG and finished in CS2. 2019-05-09-1550_5_lapl4_ap369imppgv1-psv1-mono.jpg.43d0d4...

On the upside, I work a lot from home, and could set up a larger Solar scope in my observation to be ready at short...

Options for high resolution?

Hi All, I hadn't done much solar imaging for a while, but have recently got some mojo back  I have a variety of nice kit! gathered over 10 years. My highest quality is a 70mm solarscope filter set which I use with a borg 71 scope. I've also got a LUNT DS 50mm filter set with a 1200 bf. My Quar...

Another rusty BF question...

Hi All, I bought a BF10 to go with a SM40 front filter (which was originally bought to double-stack a PST) as a neat travel set up. But on testing found the view really poor. Investigation shows I have rust... I need to go with a replacement filter and would welcome recommendations about which is be...
