Re: A few from June 2nd

Great images, Brian even considering the conditions. Dare I say a Solar smorgasbord? Looks like someone had a good Sunday.
Thanks for showing.

Re: June 1st images

Hi Alfred,

Here is a pic of the setup. These images were taken without the Daystar Combo. It was replaced with an extension tube.

Re: June 1st images

Valery, you are absolutely correct. I did set the etalon temperature approximately 1.5°C hotter (red) that normal.

Re: May 26th

All good images, Brian. The orange one is particularly striking to me. I see that you haven't lost your touch after three weeks. After I took some time away from imaging, it took me a while to get back in the groove.
Best of luck with the crops.

Thank you very much for the comments.
Brian, it seems like both prom groups are being drawn towards the disturbed region between them.

Wow! Another great set of images. It doesn't seem to matter which telescope you use or what the weather throws at you. Nicely done, Eric.

Re: Sol from the 25th of May 2019.

Eric, those are all exceptional images! I do like the processing, very sharp and detailed leaving nothing to my imagination. The rural observatory is fantastic. It's not at all what I imagined when you talked about it. Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like your haze, cloud, and rain filter is ...

June 1st images

I hadn't planned to image today but a quick glance at GONG showed a nice looking surge prom developing so out I went. This was about 14:50 UT. By the time everything was setup and the etalon was up to temperature the show was over. I missed it. Maybe next time. I did capture a region of disturbance ...

May 30th images

Hi All, After a few weeks of minimum activity on the Sun, I ventured out with the 6" scope to capture some proms that looked interesting. The last image is a mosaic of 3 and shows some interesting activity on the surface between the proms. The surface activity is still fairly quiet with only one sma...

Re: Maksutov 180/1800 Modification?

There are yellow glass, red glass, Baader D-ERF, and Aries D-ERF that I'm aware of. Dielectric coated filters are the coolest. Listen to Valery on this subject.

Re: Maksutov 180/1800 Modification?

Yes, the difference in temperature was surprising. I did not test my Maksutov scope without any full aperture filter for obvious reasons. The Quark Combo used showed no signs of damage using the hotter ERF. The Combo incorporates a reflective blocking filter as it's first element. However, images ta...

Re: Maksutov 180/1800 Modification?

Something to consider. I own telescopes that I don't think of as disposable so when entering into Solar imaging it was important for me to make sure the setup used was safe for me and the equipment. I tested different full aperture energy rejection filters to see how they performed. Below are two im...

Re: May 15 H alpha and May 10 CaK

Nice shots Peter. Even in less than ideal conditions, larger aperture images have a characteristic quality that is appealing. I had to laugh thinking about the many times I had to bump up the exposure. I too had my head in the shrouds.

Re: May 12th Spots and Proms

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. Peter, the continuum images were taken while the filter was heating. While it may not be the best wavelength for maximum detail it provides a different view with no additional setup. Also it seems to me the best seeing occurs just before the filter is up...
