The double limb is there as expected but the prominent photosphere structures surprised me. I have not seen many images that appear on band but show such a thin chromosphere.

Many thanks for the comments. The last one by the Suna is especially interesting with the embedded continuum features. The " Cat's Paw " spot of AR12994 shows up beautifully. James As James pointed out the Suna allows an lot of photosphere data to pass as well. I assume that is due to the ...

Hi All, A couple continuum (540nm) images through the 6” Mak and one rather interesting wide bandwidth capture with a Suna etalon. Quite a lot of whitelight features showing through. Mark, I haven’t noticed the ring until trying the disk shots with the reducer. Usually a Powermate is employed for closeups and no ring is seen with or without a reducer. I’ll investigate further.

Today’s images again used the Questar and Solar Spectrum filter. Stopped down to f/20, and with a focal reducer, the full disk could be imaged. At f/20 the etalon produced a small centered on band (dark) region which turned into a ring as it was heated. I think this is what I was seeing in the flat ...
