Tracking the sun MY way :)
I don't have an EQ mount, and at the moment I have no use for one BUT it is a pain using the knobs etc to follow the Sun whilst trying to image with white light on the SCt and Quark on the Refractor feeling for them so............................. NO not to track, just to push button follow instead ...

You don't need a front mounted ERF on a refractor under 150mm

Re: Advice on what this is please ?
Is THAT what a FR is, MANY thanks, can it be used between quark and eyepiece or just for camerasmarktownley wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 5:38 pmLooks like a magnimax to me. Focal reducer goes between Quark and camera.
The reason I ask is because for some reason I can't get focus, the focusser won't come "out" far enough

Advice on what this is please ?
1.25"
Looks like the end of a barlow but longer than another I have
I did buy a "magnimax" years ago ??
Nothing written on it.
Also where in the chain do you place a focal reducer when you have scope, diagonal, quark, eyepiece
Thank you

Re: New Skywatcher Solarquest mount
Has anyone tried the new Skywatcher Solarquest mount, which claims to find and track the sun automatically? If it works as advertised its inbuilt solar auto-guiding/tracking could make it a useful mount for lightweight solar setups (stated load capacity of 4kgs). Link here to APM telescope's webpag...

Are all IR cut filters the same
NOT front mounted ERFs. I have a revalation IR blocking filter, not expensive but also not an unknown ebay brand. Are they though all about the same. Using the filter before the Quark, is there really any benefit in a £50 one over a £15 one. Many thanks https://www.telescopehouse.com/revelation-ir-b...

I am modding a scope mount to more easily follow NOT track........ follow the Sun when viewing, but I have hit a snag. Re: What will be the visual difference between my 72mm Ed and my 120mm triplet with Quark Chromo please
I have your same 72ED and I am very happy, it is a wonderful solar scope. It allows fine views of the solar disc and prominences with my Quark Chromosphere, with a focal reducer and a 40 mm eyepiece is it possible to see all the solar disc. About the difference with a 120mm scope I totally agree wi...

Why do you use a focal reducer, I see the whole disk with a 8-24mm eyepiece ???
In fact I use this

Sub Aperture ERF Options For Quarks
I know there are cheap and expensive filters available, just as a Rolls Royce is better than a Ford Focus, but............ they are still cars, legal and get you from a-b Filters. There are these https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/183268614612?chn=ps and these https://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/idas-h-alpha-...

I have just left UK Solar Imaging because they kept insisting and arguing about the need for ERFs, I did not ask about ERFs, so P L E A S E don't comment on these. I am Autistic, I have aspergers, I am not stupid but it really annoys me when people go so far off topic and insist I am a fool, sorry, ...
