Re: Sunday session 29th March 2020

Thank you all for your comments. Both animations are of the same prom, I had a break due to cloud cover . On the second animation I increased the gamma during processing to show finer prominence details. Here are the raw stacks.

Sunday session 29th March 2020

Today was my first imaging session in over 10 days, The sun was quite flat, except for a few filaments and a small but bright prominence on the North Eastern Limb. Hope every one is OK with the current state of things. All images taken with my Lunt DS60/50 ASI290mm 2x Barlow Martin 133638.jpg https:...

Re: Wobbly Wednesday 25th March

Great Imaging Mark. I too have noticed here in Brisbane that the absence of jet aircraft flying overhead and possibly less air pollution has certainly cleaned the skies up, especially at night. My night skies over the last week have been really dark as opposed to the usual milky white airglow that I...

Re: New Skywatcher Solarquest mount

James , just take note the Solarquest and AZGTi have a payload of 5kg max. The supplied tripod with a 5kg load is top heavy. I would be wary of mounting an expensive telescope on this tripod.

I made a heavy duty pier mount for mine.

Re: New Skywatcher Solarquest mount

Mark , I too have the AZGTi, I might as well use it as a doorstop, mainly due to the absence of an ST4 guide port. If someone ever comes up with an ST4 interface that could plug into the handset port, then that would be a real game changer. We could then use our solar auto guiders and have a great p...

Re: Today's short session from Brisbane Australia 06/03/2020

Thank's everyone for your comments. The seeing was really good as we had just had a rain shower to clear the air, Rainer, I always try to orientate my imaging camera the same as the Gong site images.

Today's short session from Brisbane Australia 06/03/2020

Here are a few images I managed to capture today in Brisbane, Australia during a 45 minute break in the clouds. There is a region of interest on the North Eastern limb, 2 small filaments on the South Eastern limb and some good prominence detail on the North Western limb. Imaged with my Lunt double s...

It's still a good image Alexandra despite the clouds, well done. Your post reminds me of an expression often used by Sir Patrick Moore ... According to Spode's Law — “if things can be awkward, they are”

Thank you for your comments. This whole animation was created using freely available software. MinI Mouse Macro is a small program that works great with GIMP for emulating Photoshop actions for batch processing.
