Re: Sun FD 20210423 - ASI120mm Quark ED70 18 panes

Wow!! that is a really lovely full disc, beautifully done. 18 panes too :bow :hamster: keeping the seeing similar is the hardest part of stitching as you only need one with bad seeing and you get a fuzzy patch. I've very impressed, I need to work on my gradients a bit better after seeing this :) Al...

Re: Sun FD 20210423 - ASI120mm Quark ED70 18 panes

Thank you Alexandra for your compliment. I tried for 2 years to get a full disc, so I am almost there, just have to process each .SER file, and get the proms out, then combine, remove gradients and Newton rings, then more deconvolution, sharpening, high pass filters, unsharp or smart sharpenening, s...

Re: FireCapture versus Sharpcap?

1) my FPS was almost double when I switched to FC compared to Sharpcap 3.2. I was using a ASI120mm-S camera. Then you were not using the same settings in both programs. Probably high-speed setting There can be speed differences but not in that way. Always was able to get max fps announced for that ...

Sun FD 20210423 - ASI120mm Quark ED70 18 panes

Hi everyone, I took multiple solar panels on 22 and 23rd April 2021 for a Full Disc from 18 panes of the Sun. Each pane was a single frame only from the video files. I just wanted to know if I could merge them and get a reasonable FD. Well I am reasonably pleased I got this far. I can make it better...

Re: ImPPG version 0.6.3

1) Can you specify LRD separately from unsharp masking ? I mean I would like to do one with out necessarily doing the other. 2) Can you include a histogram display feature ? I think having a histogram would be advantageous. I hope you can do this for the next update !! Done and done ;) 1) Both can ...

Hi Alexandra,

I believe it can get quite hot on the summit of that volcano. Donkeys take tourists up to the base of the volcano, poor donkeys !

Hi Brian,

I also forgot to mention:

1) my FPS was almost double when I switched to FC compared to Sharpcap 3.2. I was using a ASI120mm-S camera.

2) You can apply gamma to your imaging but I was told you should turn it off at the point of recording the frames.

Brilliant work, Alexandra.
Your Solarscope looks excellent, high resolution noise less detailed images, fantastic !

I have a lot of catching up to do as well on my solar work.

Re: FireCapture versus Sharpcap?

Thank you so much Jochen. That's the answer that is needed here. As yourself, I may-well go to the paid-licence version in due course, once I am able to be up and running again from the observatory (as time allows). Also noted about the extra-functionality of the paid-version, which at present is n...

I also took out my new mobile solar viewing equipment (60mm guidescope and Quark Chromosphere, stopped down to 32mm). I have an SSM, used to use it connected to FC, rarely use it now, just gauge the seeing by eye and experience. Thanks Mark, That is very interesting. Re: Swirling prominence and other animations from Sunday

Thanks! I have a particulary bright specimen of B600 (from my old Lunt 35; by exposure times, it was ~4x brighter than a B1200 I had borrowed for tests once), so I keep gain = 0. For the Hα surface videos the shutter time was 0.67 ms (histogram filled in about 75-80%) and 7.3 ms for the prominences...

Lovely work Filip ! I like the large prom animation the best! How much memory would you use for 1 hours imaging ? Do you...
