Hello Dave,
Why is the sun so big ?
Can you give me a link to your cardboard PST, I am intrigued, I have never heard or seen cardboard being used.
Many thanks.

Atik 314L+ mono camera for solar imaging ??
Hi, Does anyone know or has used an Atik 314L+ mono for solar H-alpha imaging ? It has 6.46 micron pixels, is a cooled camera. I do not know its FPS for getting videos, but it does work with SharpCap. Any advice and info would be appreciated. I would be using it with a short focus refractor at 420mm...

Re: FD Pair from April 16th
Hi Brian,
Very good imaging and processing - super FDs!
How did you get this full disc ? Did you use multiple panes and photo merged all the different panes or was it a single video/frame ?
Many thanks.

Re: Setting Up Laptop Solely For Solar Work
Hi Mark,
How many frames per second are you getting - a range of low to maximum attainable (depends on image size) do you get ?
Many thanks.
I have a 1 TB SSD (NVMe) on an old HP laptop and 16 GB RAM and it gets about 64 fps on a normal image size of a ASI 174mm I think in SharpCap.

Re: Some solar details with new Quark 28.03.
Today the only task was to test the new Quark combo chromosphere. The weather is terrible. Just a few pictures for the whole day. AR150/F6, TV4x, Quark, IMX432 Hi Pupak, Is this the Apollo M-Max or equivalent ? What about your refractor, is it an apochromatic refractor costing 7000 USD ? Fantastic ...

Hi Warren,
Lovely capture !
I did not know there was a Canon 7D mark3. I bought the original Canon 7D in 2008 or 2009. I still have it although the original got damaged.

Re: Much belated Mars and comet c/2022 E3 ZTF
Hi Kevin,
Wow ! Amazing. I think I will try my Canon 6D. It is an excellent camera, just a little heavy.
Any chance of showing us a single exposure before any processing ?
Why ? Because it would help me decide what is a good exposure.

Re: Some weather maps
Hi,
Where did you find these weather maps, that is exactly what I was looking at.
I am not so advanced on my eclipse research so far.
Looks like we are probably too late to book hotels.
Can we just sleep in the car or pitch a tent somewhere ?

I only started viewing it, it is about 2 hours long. I saw videos so far about 2 contributors. Pretty good but I did not see a lot of autom...

Thanks guys for your compliments. I think the “seeing conditions” were very good. Normally the sun is moving or hazy at these times.

Flare ? FD 20230213 Monday !
Hi Friends, Today, I dusted off my solar equipment (portable gear) and imaged with the 60mm 225mm guidescope. I got 2 panes and merged them. Time: 10.55 hours UT I think there is a flare on the left (eastern limb) and also possibly one on the western (right side) near the edge. Here is a quick proce...
