Re: Double stack Ca K / October 6 / comparing telecentric mount or not

Hi Christian,
thx for the comparison, to me the closeup image with the FFC is clearly crisper then the other one for whatever reasons.

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 Windows 11 issues with FPS

I just wonder, why it was set as "standard" in the new version. Could also be fixed by code that makes Autorun wait until the writing is done (in an update). In general, the VRAM feature is quite positive since clearly writing to DRAM will always be significantly faster than writing to an...

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 Windows 11 issues with FPS

My guess is that FC2.7 uses VRAM to store the entire video file in DRAM and then writes the entire data to SSD. This requires some time (depending on the SSD write speed). I don't use autorun, but I have found issues if I take large video files too close together. I actually wait 5 seconds to make ...

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 Windows 11 issues with FPS

Hi Pedro, the autorun function i use a lot. But i have to set 2-3 seconds break between each video, then it works well for me. Without a short break between acquiering the videos it has problems (i guess closing the old / opening a new file takes a little time). The pause button i avoid during this ...

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 Windows 11 issues with FPS

Im using a Ryzen 7 3800 but Win10 + the latest Firecapture for imaging. Setting USB-Settings in Firecapture is important, but for me it works. But Firecapture is not very stable, sometimes it just freezes or needs to restart, dependent on what i do in the background. Nevertheless i use it because de...

Interesting setup, does this uncoated newton work well for h-alpha imaging? Are both mirrors uncoated or just the main?

Re: Baader 'New' 7.5nm Solar Continuum Filter - Marketing Guff

There’s no spectral line at 540nm, right? If there is no spectral line there it doesn’t look like lowering the bandpass would make much difference besides possibly making the view dimmer. What would 540 look like at one nanometer?, at 1.5 angstrom? 🤔 It does seem to make a difference using a 430nm ...

Thanks for the update. This is a ongoing genocide, it has shown already in Mariupol that this is a goal of the russian forces. If not deported then starved, raped or frozen to death. If the russian forces have to move out from occupied territory and they have the time, they will make sure that no gr...

The first is one with my third Quark, older images i cant find, it dates back to April 2019. I used a TS 102 ed F/7 Quark Chromosphere + 110mm D-ERF + ASI174mm. I can remember though when i started with (2017/18) this setup my very first images looked similar to Alexandras first image here. The seco...

yes its good. Good enough to study those very interesting magnetic bright points that are (very small but bright) visible in the image. Still a bit mindboggling those things.

Re: Designing a new etalon for halpha

"Exploding exposuretimes" is surely not what i want for imaging, since this would set us back to the stoneage with lucky imaging. I actually would be grateful for more transmission instead, to be able to reduce the gain levels of the cam.

Thank you guys, thank tou for your advice Dennis. I will open my wallet and go with the asi 174 mm in the near future. Imx 432 sensor is even better for solar I think , but probably too specialized, pixels are really large. I think the 174 is good also for lunar/ planet imaging with my mak and a c9...

Re: AR3131 and 3135 broad band imaging.

Well done. I know how hard it is to image WL on scales like this. Im using no more then 20 - 25s on wl solar structures, but i think the granules develop much slower. So should be fine with 90s. A fast camera is making a big difference though on this application and scale.
