A mod in this case only makes sense if you want to sell the Lunt 130 DS and have fun tinkering. Mods would only aim to get similar performance of the Lunt 130 ds but for much less money.

Yes, sometimes we have to raise the gain to keep exposures low enough. The loss of signal can be compensated by stacking more images, but one cannot undo the "smearing" of details when having exp. times too high. Maybe that will solve it for you.

You will see a bit more space around the solar disc with the larger BF. The main benefit is for imaging cameras. The BF 1200 can cover a 12mm chip diagonal and so on.

Yes once you successfully can use your larger scopes with astrosolar film you can think about investing in h-alpha equipment in/for that aperture size.

sounds interesting, can you give more specifics and best a filtercurve for the ERF?
You say its a mirror and a glass, what do you mean by this, is it a mirror coating or a piece of glass that is ERF coated?
