Is this at prime focus - no barlow?

Its with the apm 2.7x barlow element and roughly 150mm distance to the camera. The one that worked well with my 2 Lunt filters before.
Cant wait for the next season to try it out with good conditions and the ability to fine tune focus again.

Re: Testing new Ca-k setup, 28.11.23

Very promising Dennis. My experience with double stacking CaK; try reversing the order of the filters in the optical chain, one way will work better (produce tighter bandwidth than the other), when this is established find a solution to fine tilt the filter closest to the camera to fine tune the CW...

Thanks Warren, they are a bit processed (unsharpening mask and a bit of PS). Yes, conditions were anything but good, more a functional test.

Testing new Ca-k setup, 28.11.23

Hi, today was a little bit of sun in the morning and i could test my new setup containing a Alluxa 1.5A + Lunt 2.4A ca-k filter. The goal was to test function and transmission with the imx432 camera, so getting pretty images was not in focus (literally). So far all works nicely, a reflection was han...

Re: LS50 at he BACK of a scope?

Hi. About Q2: the graph you reference is for mica based etalons. The Lunt is a air spaced etalon (apples and oranges) and in combination with a telecentric beam it would need to see a minimum of f/40 to show something. For solar a f/5.5 instrument is pretty useless in my opinion. typical seen is f/7...

Hi Petr, now after your experiences, can you recommend this setup? What gain and exposure levels did you get with the imx432? And was it possible to keep the setup as compact as shown without reflection problems?

Very nice for a one shot camera. Against my idea to go for a different setup, with results like this its hard to tell what could improve things even more.

Re: Using a focal reducer with a C9.25 and DSLR to image eclipses?

I dont understand the concept of imaging the suns full disk with a c9.25. Do you have other telescopes? Just responding here as well, because I do appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts. :) I actually really liked how much detail I was able to get with the higher magnification. I liked my image...

1. ERF coating bandwidth 25nm per channel!(HA656nm,CAK393nm)
2. Infrared up to 1700nm!
3. Quartz glass

Wow, sounds impressive! Curious to see it as product then.

Re: CAK AR3477 & 3480 using a Celestron C6R from Singapore

Hi Dennis, That is a good point. I was just curious to see if there are any improvement :) Alfred I tried it too with the Baader as blocker (since im not using the blockers that come with the Lunt module), but its not doing a great job there. I had much better results with the Antlia 393nm 3nm filt...

Nice results Alfred! Do you see any difference with and without the Baader CAK filter? Hi Daniel, I must say that I am getting the same results with just the LUNT CAK B1200 Wedge. There should be an improvement but I am just not able to see it clearly. Alfred, why do you expect a improvement of con...

Re: Barlow 1.6x test from Antares on AR150/F24.

Hi What etalon setup is it? Is DS11 one front etalon? cheers. andrew. DSII (DS2) is a combination of Quark + LS40. I use it on all telescopes. The blocking filter is at the forefront of the Quark, then the LS40 follows. This combination gives the best results. Petr Nice results Peter, what kind of ...

Re: Identify noise source in Ha image

Weird that I can attach a png but not a tiff. I wonder if there is something particular about how GIMP creates it (I export it from .XCF to .TIFF). My computer identifies it as a "GIMP 2.10.34 TIFF" file. Mark are you suggesting I don't use USM as well a not using LRD? I don't know how el...

Mark. I pretty much always leave iterations at 50. Thanks Warren. I used both LR Deconvolution and an unsharp mask both set at Sigma 1.3. Unsharp mask amount at 4.2 (too much?). I’ll take a look at Astrosurface. Here is a stacked unprocessed image. IMG_0143.jpeg The stacked image behaves weird when...
