Re: If CaK is best at F10 -
Would it be difficult to make a etalon based filter like the Suna or Sundancer 2 just for Ca-K with h-a like fwhms? Maybe they would make a run if enough people would want one..

Nice one Stu, glad you could fix the equipment.
Seeing is going down the toilet here too as soon as the heating season begins.

Very nice images Alfred, would you mind sharing some imaging details like fps, exposures, gain? Hi Dennis, Camera: Basler acA1920-155um For disk images, I captured 2000frames at mean frame rate of 141 FPS, exposure of 7mSec and Gain 22105. Stacked 300frames. For Proms, captured 900 frames at mean f...

Hi,
today i tried the sunspot group again and things went better then last time. Clouds with few gaps but i was lucky.
Quark Chromosphere + Daystar reducer.
100 best of 2231 images, 6.7ms exposures, 148fps, gain: 0, imx462
Thx for looking and nice weekend,
Dennis

Re: September 18 2023 Imaging Session. Finally!
Good images James, you can see that the seeing is actually good in the wl images. The turbulences are making them a little bit patchy. Lowering exposure time to 6ms and below might help here.

Re: Maksutoc-Cassegrain Suitability
This was the best graphic I could find of the transmission of the triband - I would say it won't work for G-band. Looks like it has cut off by 425nm. Screenshot 2023-09-23 071449.png I would ask the vendor for a filter curve, they seem to be different with aperture size and somehow confusing. Does ...

Re: Quark Chromosphere Blockfilter Mod
Thats true, but especially if its as narrow as 1nm i better want to make sure its not getting too warm. Testing out more on the upcoming days and will see more how it behaves.AndiesHandyHandies wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 9:44 pm Hi
Any etalon or dielectric filter will drift to longer on-band wavelength if heated. And vice-versa.
Cheers. Andrew.

Wow, nice results and interesting setup. How do you manage to get enough light for h-alpha with a solar newton?
I can see a lot of bright dots in the surface images, what are they?

Great work, so the reverse granulation is not visible anymore in ca-k with this narrow filtering..

Re: Quark Chromosphere Blockfilter Mod
Hi In old posts people were removing the Quark blocker Andover filter, including ITF and red glass?, to get more light through when imaging. Not to be used for visual if no ITF and red glass. Removed this reference as not checked out, and the blocking filter should not be removed. Adding a 7nm woul...

Re: Maksutoc-Cassegrain Suitability
Hi Brian. Why not some sort of classic cassegrain? I have the sensation that with the SW you will not be so happy for ca-k. No idea if this will deliver, but i would check out telescopes like this one: https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p10753_TS-Optics-GSO-8--f-1...

Re: Reducers for 393nm Wavelength?
I asked Baader about using the RG 0.4 and 0.7 focal reducers intended to be used for the TZ3 focal reducers. They responded: "We actually haven't tried it out yet, as a reducer usually is not necessary for the CaK-filter (which operates at the native f/ratio of the tellescope), and the SolarSp...
