Today I got a quick look at the solar photosphere just before leaving for work at 15:30 UTC using my little Lunt 8x32 SUNoculars. It looks worse then it was. In order not to overexpose the clouds during sunshine I had to use 2.75ms exposure time and that is why it looks so dark when no blue sky patches are visible
I have had my pictures to turn out in a similar way.
