Excellent job yet again my friend. I love especially your CaK work! And also I notice a big dark filament near the western limb in your Ha images.

12-2-22. Very basic WL and Slooh

Today has been entirely cloudy and so far I have gotten only a very quick view using the 8x32 SUNoculars at 18:30 UTC through a thin place in the overcast cloud deck. I can see the large spot of the new AR13153 in the SE just inside the limb. North of it in the NE quadrant I see a single spot that i...

Warren,
I await your animation. I could visually see what the GONG images show. To think about it the prom looks a bit like a wingless mosquito! Is it feeding on the Sun!? View the attached GONG image full size!

Alexandra,
It was fun. Cloudy today though but at least it is FRIDAY!!

I noticed two new ones yesterday. Today I am under clouds and so far not even a gap big enough for the SUNoculars.

Re: Am I the only one using ASTRO IIDC on SolarChat?

It's old but seems very capable. It's easy to use too! It's it's ease of use I like though I still have quite a bit to learn using it. Unfortunately it has expired and is no longer commercially available and must be licensed to use and no updates are being done on it. And it requires older FireWire ...

Re: Coffee under the stars ?

There is nothing more awe inspiring than seeing the Milky Way under a truly dark sky. I can see it here from home in Edneyville N.C. but it's washed out a bit from the light pollution from nearby Hendersonville. My dad in Lowndesville S.C. has a much better view. I remember back in the summer of 201...

I love SHGs. They can image any spectral line. I just wish someone sold a completed one commercially.

Am I the only one using ASTRO IIDC on SolarChat?

Through I have a USB3 ZWO ASI178MM and run a Windows 8.1 machine using SharpCap, AVIstack and GIMP, I just as much use a FireWire PGR Grasshopper on a MacBook Pro 17 running MacOS High Sierra using ASTRO IIDC and GIMP. Are they anyone on SolarChat that still uses ASTRO IIDC at all? I would guess Ste...

I thought so. It doesn’t show as much as a narrow band CaK filter but shows faculae better than a typical white light image does.

Nice 👍🏻 image Bill!

Re: Today's SUN (20221201) | NEW AR

WoW, all of these really look good, Pedro. That odd looking prom in the NE quad changed a bit between our sessions. I caught a new region in the NE as well as the one you captured in the SE. It rotated into view between our sessions.

And you had MUCH better seeing than I had!

James. 👍🏻👍🏻

Aaron,
Observing from 53N has got to be a challenge. Your observing window is probably quite narrow.

December 1 2022 Observations. New ARs in the East!!

My session time is from 16:10 until 17:10 UTC. The skies are clear with poor seeing. The temperature is 44F ( 6.6C ) Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x and 50x ( Ha ) The quietness is ending folks. I see eight active regions on the Ha solar disc today! I can see a spot near the NE limb which is associa...
