Dennis,
I usually observe and/or image white light first. Seeing often does vary and sometimes I do catch a good moment. Lowering the exposure may help too, I agree.

Warren,
I think this is the flare you caught. It's still of a respectable strength.

For the october eclipse, which is partial from NC I will use both 540nm continuum and Ha. Or that's at least my plan.

WoW!! Daniel, this is incredible! Very nice resolution. Was this from a standard newtonian reflector? What focal ratio?

Two thumbs up!

September 22 2023. Slooh Ha

Today not having time to set up my own equipment I accessed the Slooh Lunt 60 telescope on Mt. Teide for a couple of Ha captures. These were just before 14:00 UTC. The temperature for Teide National Park where the observatory lies is 61F ( 16.1C ). Online!.JPG Happy Friday! Carpe Cerevisi!! 🍷 🍻 Jame...

Thanks, Mark, Pedro, Stu and Jordan. I won't be observing over the next couple of days due to being so busy, unless it's a quick solar binocular view or using Slooh.

Enjoy " Beer O' Clock ", Mark. 🍺

Alexandra, I would love to have a CaK wedge. I wish I would have bought one four years ago when they were much more affordable. They have gotten so much more expensive now. But still, hopefully I will get one in the future.

I agree with Valery. The filaments in CaH are awesome. I cannot speak from experience on this wavelength but the detail shown here is amazing.
