That's a very nice full Ha disc, Warren. I checked it out as well using the Slooh Canary5 Lunt60 telescope earlier today. I am glad you got to see the Sun!!

Re: November 19 2022 Observations. Scope accident! :-(

Peter, I have always praised the Coronado scopes for their gold and black tubes but this Lunt 60mm is a beauty! I'll see if I can get me one of these lanyards from work if I can. That's a wonderful idea and while I am at it see if I can find me some easy grip wide rubber bands for my DS etalon as Te...

Re: November 30 2022 Observations. Orion70 and Slooh Lunt60

Thanks Pupak. Though the equipment is not mine it has that live feel view like one would have while using your own equipment. The main difference is they control the scopes tuning, pointing, exposure etc. But at least it tracks well unlike my stuff! Their nighttime scopes can do videos for stacking ...

Re: November 29 2022 656.28nm Imaging Session.

I forgot to state what equipment I used except for the SMII90. I used the FireWire Point Grey Grasshopper camera running on a 17" MacBook Pro with Astro IIDC as the image acquisition software. These are single frame captures so no stacking software was used. Editing/sharpening/processing was do...

November 30 2022 Observations. Orion70 and Slooh Lunt60

My session time for the white light Orion70 session occurred from between 17:00 until 17:30 ( intermittent ) UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy but the seeing is fair/average. The temperature is a nice 60F ( 15.5C ). My Slooh Ha session overlapped my visual WL session. I processed the captured images ...

Re: November 29 2022 540nm Visual Session.

Alexandra, I chimed in on the SMIII90 post. Stephen is certainly more familiar with that model more than I am. They are certainly a much more attractive instrument than mine. Theoretically they are better due to having completely external etalons but one thing I have never liked about Coronado is th...

The SolarMax III looks quite a bit different than my SolarMax II. Stephen, I see both T-Max wheels on yours and the gold knarled ring is the Richview tuner.

Re: Coronado SolarMax III RichView blocked

I have a SolarMax II 90 doublestacked scope. I notice two knarled grips on the SMIII stacking etalon. One right behind the screw on cap. Is that the RichView tuner or just a grip? The second is a brass wheel just behind it. Is that the RichView Tuner or have they used a tuning ring to replace the sm...

I dropped my 60mm stacking etalon once when I was unscrewing it. It landed on mossy ground and suffered no damage. I was lucky.

November 29 2022 656.28nm Imaging Session.

Here is the imaging part of the session I done earlier today. https://solarchatforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=38907 It was a rather quiet Sun but I was satisfied with the images, especially the proms. The prom images look better full size so open them up! SMII90 SS. 20221129_172142.92_UTC_JP.jpg 20221129...

That's a really good idea. I wonder if they are strong enough to hold a small lightweight refractor. Terry has also suggested tethering the scope to the mount giving it a safety line to catch it before hitting the ground if it should become loose from the cradle.
