First Sun with the 102 Planet PST mod I only had half an hour to do some tests and I already saw that it was going very well, when I took the shot I had the sun practically covered by light clouds and contrails from the planes. Yes, but on the paper it is blocked until 1700nm, thats a huge difference to the player one filter. You can buy yourself "better seeing" there.
I would order directly at Antlia filters.

Re: Summer solar visual and imaging challenge : "What is the color of sunspots ?"
Rainer, all. The best way to gauge the color of the Sun is probably visually. The problem here lies the extreme contrast between the photosphere, the sunspots and the black background outside the disk . It's a large dynamic range for the eye to adjust for. Another issue is one needs a filter that d...

Re: Summer solar visual and imaging challenge : "What is the color of sunspots ?"
Experiments and reflections on RGB photography of the sun continue. point one the earth's atmosphere is an excellent filter and blocks almost 50% of the red color emitted by the Sun and therefore a balanced photo of the sun looks very pale blue if not bluish. point two, even if there were no earth's...

Re: Summer solar visual and imaging challenge : "What is the color of sunspots ?"
Some considerations on color photography after some tests in the sun this morning. The sun is a black body, but the emissions recorded by the sensor are not linear, the sensor is very easily blinded by higher frequencies which are more energetic. The colors in the sunspots are very weak compared to ...
