Re: solarGain, new SHG
Ok, I have too many variables, things are not locked down. I believe I can now lock down the two Pentax Takumar lenses. So this is the horizontal scan line shown on Genika. The line is at best focus without any sharpening involved. One variable is that I do not have fine control of the horizontal li...

Re: solarGain, new SHG
I was hoping that either way this line was in focus. The collimator is the 2nd piece that has been focused, possibly poorly. The lighting used was a fluorescent lamp so not a strong lighting force. I also thought that the horizontal scan would be right but the 'bloating' at both ends I didn't want t...

solarGain, new SHG
I am still at the building and fine tuning stage of my SHG, a la thesmiths. So this is my first image. Camera - 1st focus, Collimator 2nd with Telescope 3rd focus. It is taken with the aid of a 50x50mm Holographic DG. And I am assuming at the1st Order. To my eye the top and the bottom is out of focu...

Ca K, c-Class flare in poor conditions.
Well I had thought I had some luck on Saturday 30 March, but as soon as I had put up the CR-150 on my mount and fitted all the pieces. I knew it was hopeless. Meter blue confirmed as well.Even with the iris set at 50mm dia. I couldn't modify the conditions. The conditions were appalling here in cent...

Hi-Resolution images from London, UK again using the CR-150 (CR-6)
This from the same popular CR-150, aka the CR-6. This all prior to Bob’s useful info on shimming with 3.2mm spacers (Ca-K), they are on there way to me. 3 days in a row with the sun after nearly 4 weeks of poor no sun weather. The first two were very poor but today the seeing was steady and and occa...

GreatAttractor, we are at some 230m above sea level. Yes it was a 100mm William Optics. DeepSolar64, Ca-k wavelength. Nice shot for white light! Indeed everyone thank you for all your comments. I've set up late today, and have been testing out new configuration around a CR150 (nice scope), I can now...

Fourth attempt now to get my images in the right order and not to have duplications of the photos.
I do hope you like this from 2020. One or at most two days of very good seeing in all of four months. The weather was the worst in many years.

Re: Solar Spectrum and direct connection to a refractor
Rupert Hi. I had second thoughts about posting this, but it proves what was said "It is possible to increase the F/D by adding a spacer..."" I've given up on the idea of a f35 system many years ago, but if someone made such a system I might jump for it, but, I'm concentrating on Hires...

Re: Solar Spectrum and direct connection to a refractor
Well I found the link to Frederic's "Setup with HaT" from March 23 2015 Screen Shot 2020-08-14 at 12.20.19.png Where a spacer is used to get to f/35. Is this plainly impossible. I'am reading all the way thru' "Commercia...

Re: August 3, 2020: Calcium Trio
Peter Hi. Thank you very much for the details and the curve. In 2010, I was in deep discussions with Dave Groski for more than 3 years. I opted for the Clifton Horne’s SHS that appeared in a copy of Sky and Telescope, in October 1971. It was fully built, my documentation of the build was poor compar...

Excellent, I took the liberty to show the sharpest image from the middle of the run.
It adds very little but a nice run none the less.

Re: August 3, 2020: Calcium Trio
Very detailed workings being shown here Peter. I am slowly building my 2nd SHG. This one is a Littrow ala Fulvio Mete and I shall almost certainly use a 50mm x 50mm reflective holographic grating from Thorlabs. The extreme infraRed parameters for this grating collapse just beyond 825nm, so I must as...

Exceptional image Christian. I find that the cells look very much like the shiny cells of G-band very flat like float glass.
