Douglas: Did you see significant transversalium artifacts in the raw image from this slit? I have none on mine. Today was not my lucky day. I missed the peak of the X3.98 flare by about 15 minutes.
Only captured the build up. The animation ends at X1.6 or so.

That's interesting re the CNC'ed version. How much are you costing it at? And can you make it so that the collimator lens can be fine-tuned helically instead of sliding in and out? I'm still experimenting with my Sol'ex - need to get the exposure and scan times balanced, so depending on how that go...

And yes, I think I need a support for the solex, especially since mine was made from CNCed Aluminium and is quite heavy. Mine has relatively little flexure due to the aluminium design, most of the flexure is in the focuser.

The dust is more than desirable but likely the transversalium can be automatically removed in software. As Pedro says, I would just use a Giotto type Rocket air blower (or the Player One cameras come with a nice little blower). I actually find a little dust to be helpful to make sure the collimator...

Hi Minh I use my Taka FS60C with a ND filter (49mm). I guess reducing the aperture to 30mm is not the best option. Just my two cents You do not need a good refractor to image with the Sol'Ex. I discovered the new Solar mosaic tool in Sharpcap which make doing mosaic with narrow FOV a breeze. The seeing today was good and it shows in the mosaic. The closeup detail is really good.
