Re: Which camera for AT102EDL + Quark, movies
Daystar Quark Chromo the standard one is already has a built in Barlow of 4.2x i believe, so that is added to the native focal ratio, i do have the "Combo" version which doesn't have any Barlow built in so i can use whatever magnification according to what i have of scopes, so i believe wi...

Re: Coronado PST / Antlia 3nm Ca-k wedge images
Those are some incredible solar images, love them all, and i agree that Antlia one is standing out, spot on, then i should just return back the filter into the Antlia wedge and use it as it is, and buy another wedge for Continuum filter.

Re: Choosing herschel
If i can remember well, the wedge is better than solar film, this is one thing, second thing is, the film is better than glass, almost all mentioned that, so your first choice is the herschel wedge then the second one is film, now which film....? If i have to put them in order then i will put Baader...

Re: Solar and More!
Tareq, TSO, Askar and SharpStar I think use the same optics and/or are manufactured by the same company. A friend of mine has two SharpStar triplets, a 76 and a 94. Both do very well though to his chagrin I like his TeleVue 85 a bit better :) I had a ST90, it performed poorly over 50x and was not s...

Re: Solar and More!
Tareq, Are most of your doublets ED instruments or achromatic doublets. Some APO scopes use ED glass or fluorite doublets and give excellent performance with more light throughput than triplets. I know the Orion ST80 is an achromat. Since I will be using it for planetary as well as deep sky I am le...

Re: Cameras for different solar filters imaging
I recently got a Player One Saturn-M camera for full disks and like it so far. It's for Halpha imaging with a Lunt 100mm. It is undersampled at the native focal length but I can't quite get full disk with my 2x Powermate. But the disk would fit with a 60mm and 2x PM, and give close to ideal samplin...

Re: Solar and More!
And then there is the case of light grasp. Aperture always wins here! Why not, i am really thinking about so large aperture scope that i can rely for light bucket thing, that is why i stopped planetary imaging while ago, and now i am interested in solar so planets can wait. I am planning to buy a 1...

Re: Solar and More!
Tareq, Aperture is certainly to be considered when it comes to seeing. Small apertures will generally out perform large apertures when the seeing is poor. An exception of course is deep sky in some situations where light gathering power may be needed just to detect an object. Thanks Franco! This wa...

So that is the setup for your incredible closeup results, Ah-mazing! Re: Solar and More!
Thanks everyone. I was really surprised how much detail the little 72mm refractor would show on both the moon and especially Jupiter in the images. I need to try some nighttime imaging with my 6" F8 Criterion reflector. And yes, I do embrace the dark side as well! James Moon is dirty easy peas...

Re: Cameras for different solar filters imaging
Depends what scope you're using and what wavelength Wavelength all of them, i mean Ha, CaK and WL. Scope, for full disk i need to use scopes that gives like smaller FL or almost wider FOV, so like 60mm aperture up to 100mm aperture, after all Lunt recommended to use CaK module up to 100mm even if w...

I have the Lunt 1.25 that I use with my Orion ED80T with no issues. What scope are you using yours with? I use a takahashi fc-100-df, the focus travel is a problem with 1,25". @TareqPhoto i start quark before installing my setup and it's easy to find the sun before mounting quark. And because ...

This is amazingly done, great image, lucky all to watch and image the solar eclipse be it totality or annular.
