Nice build. Is the observatory a kit? The roof looks to have a ‘commercial finish’

Yes it was designed and fitted by my friend Paul at

Re: Getting into solar imaging

Great to meet you, I've just been reading your blog. I'm heading down the SS route in the next two years so I was interested to read about your choice of scope which looks great. How did you reach the conclusion of which scope to buy?

Re: Tuesday Sunshine 14th June

I can barely believe my eyes, these are SUNsational! I've just commented to Arne, and the same goes to you with this set, that I was telling my friend about your images and how all the detail stays when you zoom in. What factors help this? Camera? Scope? SER bit number? Or straightforward superhero ...

Great images and animation Warren. Love the little dancing surge proms and the goldfish mouth opening and closing bottom left!
'Hats off' to you for persevering in the heat. Being a redhead, my hat was firmly on and I started melting at 26°C imaging the spots in WL yesterday.

Great to see both sets to compare. The first mono image is my favourite.
It's always a fine balance between enough detail and over sharpening isn't it!

Re: Sun FD in H-Alpha, CaK and Continuum 16th of June 2022

I was telling my friend about your images Arne and that even when you really zoom in there's still a lot of detail. Often details are lost with a zoom in. Is that the scope, camera, SER bit or a combination do you think?
