Very nice pictures. They really motivate to try more and more.
How did you get the IMX178 working for h-alpha?

Re: Another attempt at the Calcium 842.2nm line
Douglas,
Thank you for mentioning the transparency of your slit chrome layer increases at longer wavelengths. I built one into my UVEX4 (nicepeople approach) and wanted to use t more to UV and IR due to the mirror setup. Looks like I am going to concentrate more in the UV then...

Re: SHGram @ 1083 nm
I love this approach. I am getting curious trying more in this direction.
Ever tried an IMX462 sensor? This should be quite useful for that wavelength.

Re: They arrived eventually
I am a fan of small pixels. The seeing is more a problem, but the details are nice. When I am bored I am going to try a 1.2 x 1.2 um pixel camera, which was intended for a different application...marktownley wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 5:00 am Hi Karsten! Thanks for this.
2.74um pixels... Interesting

Re: They arrived eventually
Finally I have had time to test the IMX545 (a2A4096-30umBAS - Basler ace 2) version from Basler. It is quite fast: 4096 px x 3000 px at 8 bit: approximately 25 fps 4096 px x 3000 px at 12 bit approximately 15 fps Basler.jpg I did nothing to this image. It is just stecked, everythign else is raw. Re: Design of SHG
Hi Rainer, it is the optical kit from Shelyak. We intended to sell it for interested customers. But because I left the shop suddenly my colleague pressed me the parcel with some kits into my hands. It is just a design for myself to prove if it is possible to motorize the "easy" setup. I us...

Design of SHG
Because I cancelled my cooperation with the astronomy dealer (some Sol'Ex kits were laying around therefore), the weather is depressing and I always wanted to have a high resolution motorized SHG: I played around in Fusion360... SolKat.jpg I am printing it over the next days. It is like a mixture of...

Re: They arrived eventually
I figured it out as well; Laura, thank you very much for the hint.
Genika works with Basler, not Touptek. Difficult then.
Firecapture... wow... Basler is supported, but does not run... seems to be a common problem when I look into the support forum.
Looks like we are stuck to the familiar sensors.

Re: They arrived eventually
Robin decided against Basler with future version 4.1, therefore I have no hope that even Pylon 6.1.3 (yes, it works) will work in the future.
I never tried Genika Astro. Because it's licence is bounded to three cameras and I am testing a lot of cameras, it is not compatible to my requirements.

Break
Hi folks, I am taking a break from public and from solar astronomy. Working in this business has shown terrible things to me. It feels like people are creating their own reality and insult the others. Corporations are nothing worth. I am starting to lose my belief in myself and therefore need to get...

Re: waiting for sun
The results are very nice with the decoated mirror. But.. (a big but) .. I never compared the results with a different setup with same seeing conditions. Maybe i put some aluminum foil back on the mirror to replace the missing coating. Then i just pull it off to compare it without. Sorry, just being...

I actually saw some sunshine today. BUT! It was 4C/40F and blowing a 20m/s {45mph] SE gale! I never saw that amazing AR3140 spot group. No.. not a laser.. we are close to an old airport. I am still trying to abuse the microwave oven. Until now I got at least some crispy doves... quite tasty.
