I find the first image more pleasing on the eye - it feels finer, the second one a bit more coarse. I'm not sure which is which based on the earlier post about them being mislabelled? Fwiw, I've found 100mm f/10 to be a better combination in the generally better seeing here in Portugal than 50mm f/2...

Sorry to hear about the illness Alexandra. No need to apologise! Wishing you a full recovery. Its been a weird spring in the UK so maybe that's a factor w the viruses - my grandmother always used to say beware the change of season as that's when you fall ill more. The sun makes things so much better...

Thanks all Mark, Wayne & James. Yes I couldn't believe the image on the screen. But sadly only had time to grab the 3 sets. The seeing here is so good - at least in the mornings - that I think it could easily support wider aperture. Although this morning it is cloudy.

Thanks both James & Mark. The difference in exposure times between 540nm w 10nm bandpass and the tighter pass of the Gband is palpable. I think the ND3 filter in the wedge makes a big difference. I'm toying with the idea of having an imaging only wedge (2nd hand ofc!) w/o an ND filter either jus...

Your CaH images are always so soothing. And even the colorising you do is great in getting exactly the right tone - not too bright, and yet different enough from the mono.

Thanks Petr. I was curious to see how the smaller aperture would compare. The better resolution of the 4" is definitely more preferable, which means at some point I will need to figure out a way of getting an air etalon at the back of the 4" scope. But before that I want to try the now bet...

Thanks both. Yes Mark, a step down mask is definitely on my to-do list. I wish Skywatcher made a lens cover like the old Vixen ones where you can take a middle bit out and turn a 4" into a 2". I think I will have to find some thick cardboard and a craft knife instead :lol:

Hi Alfred, yes the later images are definitely an improvement. The softer side of the image actually gives it a very nice "alive" feel - good stuff!

V v nice closeup of the AR. What is that circular feature at c 2 o'clock on the second biggest AR region - it has a bright ring around it which the other smaller dark regions don't?
