Re: 3D-printed Baader 160mm ERF Holder
Well, I do have a thermal camera so stay tuned. I think that's a good idea. I will take a photo when I get a chance. I've also been wanting to see how unevenly the quark heats (not on telescope). I left a bit over 1mm of space all around to account for thermal expansion. The ERF rattles a bit in the...

Re: 3D-printed Baader 160mm ERF Holder
I do think metal would be superior in terms of strength and durability. However, the ERF holders from Baader are 3D printed anyway and quite pricey. (Looks like ASA https://www.baader-planetarium.com/en/frame-for-d-erf-filters-75-180mm.html) My version is much uglier, but easy to mount on scopes of ...

Great that it is working. I mostly use 25mm plossls with mine. Now of course desire for a double stack will set in.... In terms of tuning I usually find it best to try for the darkest filaments on the disk (not proms) . Brightest plage is also part of it but that seems more difficult for me to deter...

Hi All, In case it is useful to someone, I am attaching a link to a 3D-printed holder for a Baader 160mm ERF that I use on my C6SCT and AT102ED. A bit rough, but it gets the job done. Here's the 3D printed double stack adapter. You can see how it attaches to the stock Lunt 40mm etalon. I've been able to binoview with the b500 and b1200 on my Lunt 40 (see link below). I prefer the b1200, but that may be idiosyncratic to the two filters and not a function of size. https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/853336-successful-binoviewing-with-lunt-40mm-b500/ For double stacking the 40 , you m...

To avoid ghost images, I have found some rules: spacing the 2 etalons as much as possible I use 30mm BF30 isle of man. if I put it at the end just before eyepieces, I have reflections. Got it. I keep the ERF on mine out of laziness (and I use the white etalon housing with some ptfe washers to compression tune the etalon). Don't know what the transmission is, I think the ERF itself is around 80% but I don't have a source or numbers to back up that claim.

Wow, that looks really nice. Just to be clear, you're using a 2-inch fitting to attach to the telescope (I didn't want others to misunderstand). A 1.25-inch fitting will not be strong enough and likely will cause some vignetting for many telescopes. Using the built-in helical focusers of the camera...

Re: Quark + Lunt 40mm double stack at 102mm aperture
A 4x telecentric (baaderTZ4) would give you tighter bandpass with the quark combo. Definitely worth the decrease in overall intensity. Ideally, you want to be around f40 for the mica etalons. The quark+telecentric should also work on the back of another H-Alpha scope. The quark replaces the blocking...

This quark has the built in telecentric. Also works with Lunt40+TZ4+blocker and no quark better than I thought would. I've been trying just the Lunt 40 mm etalons with a negative meniscus lens and refocusing doublet lately and this also works as it should, but you get a sweet spot.

Tuning/tilting does make a difference to me, but less than with single stack. (You are just trying to maximize brightness and evenness to match the two etalons) . Putting the air spaced Lunt etalon in the telecentric beam behind the quark does blue shift the etalon slightly, which takes the place of...
