Prom of June 13th 2024 with spectro coronagraph
Hello... again just had a few minutes of sun and then clouds and haze.... but still I could try something to limit the turbulence and degradation of the images : closing the tube of the refractor with a filter.... .... and it worked!!! so it seems.... There is almost no heat on the slit and the imag...

Re: proms of june 10th with new curved slit spectro-coro
The spacing is about 0.5 mm to 8mm when there is a huge eruption (thats what i used for my last big one this month). But the sky must be very clean to open the slit to such extent. There is was to measure the value of the equivalent H alpha filter ( bandwidth) . I check on the sodium double lines : ...

Re: proms of june 10th with new curved slit spectro-coro
I vary the width at will , depending on how big the prominences are , how clear the sky is ( a hazy sky is much less permisive because then the background light drowns the proms and then a more powerfull grating is required or the slit has to be more closed) and also depending of the grating used. T...

proms of june 10th with new curved slit spectro-coro
Hello, today I was lucky in the afternoon as I had a few space between clouds that allowed me to test my new curved slit. The result is great as the dispersion is now equal in each part of the edge of the slit : it means that the contrast is the same all around the sun's edge !! Here are some result...
