Some Eclipse shots

These are just some quick and dirty eclipse shots, i am still processing the data acquired on that day, university dose not make that task easy. So hear are 2 images: This is a test stack from a frame for a animation im working on. test.png This is a stacked image of a time lapse i took as well, eac...

Full Disk White Light October 24 2014

I finally had a chance to image the Monster today. According to the weather forecast there was supposed to be a lot of clouds during the evening, but lucky for me that was wrong. Captured with my GSO 6" F5 Newton, and a Point Grey Scorpion 13FFM: White-Light-2014-10-24-GSO-150-750-1-falsecolor-fulld...

Re: Does anybody seen this MONSTER with unaided eyes?

I managed to see it during sunset. And also using my Baader solar filter (without telescope), during the day. Well as long as clouds permitted it.

Those images look like they were made with the now mothballed DOT, yet they were made with a amateur telescope! Absolutely amazing work!

Re: Coronado PST (new) vs Coronado SolarMax II 90 (used)?

dose the 3cm diameter BF30 make that much of a difference? seeing that the Lunt LS60 uses a 12mm blocking filter i asumed that a 15mm would be enough. But apparently it isn't.

Re: Coronado PST (new) vs Coronado SolarMax II 90 (used)?

I have done a bit of digging on the offer, and turns out its been up for the better part of 3 years now. None of the contact details are functional, and the person selling it has not reacted to my emails. Thus i am asuming the offer was either a badly executed scam, or the seller simply forgot about...

Re: Coronado PST (new) vs Coronado SolarMax II 90 (used)?

Well that might be, but i have talked to my parents (who have friends were the seller lives) and asked them if they were intending to go there in the near future, and the answer was yes. Thus i will get in contact with the seller and reqest some good images of the scope and blocking filter, to give ...

Re: a question about CaK Filters

Well in terms of finding a near identical Telescope, i managed to find a scope with the exact same Specs as the LS152. Its called the TS Individual large field refractor 152/900mm. It even looks almost like the LS152. Also what kind of ERF dose the LS152 use for the CaK filter, i assumed it was usin...

Re: Coronado PST (new) vs Coronado SolarMax II 90 (used)?

Also would the rings still be visible if the etalon (as is the case in the SolarMax II 90) is mounted more or less permanently inside the telescope tube? I would assume the answer is yes, but i am asking anyways just to make sure.

Re: Coronado PST (new) vs Coronado SolarMax II 90 (used)?

What should i look out for, when testing a used H-Alpha Telescope? The seller is only a 3 hours drive away from were i live. And for the posability of getting a vastly better solar telescope, over a PST (if this statement is wrong, pleas correct me). I will happily drive for 6 hours!

Coronado PST (new) vs Coronado SolarMax II 90 (used)?

Well (I know i use well too often...) i was looking on a used equipment site in Germany for a CaK PST, i wanted to see if i could find one, i didn't have any luck thou. However i did find something very interesting, a Coronado SolarMax II 90 (essentially unknown condition, the seller is was very vag...

a question about CaK Filters

Well i have several questions to which i have not found a straight answer. - Could the LS152's CaK Hershel wedge be used on some other telescope with smiler specifications? I ask this, based on the CaK module looking like a standard Lunt Hershel wedge with a CaK filter on top. If this is literally a...

Re: First H-Alpha Solar Telescope - Question

Well i recently came across the double stacked version of the PST, would it be worth the extra money to get a bandwidth of 0.5A instead of 1A. Ive seen a picture from Alexandra with here DSPST. And i must say, they are more epic then the simple PST images. Additionally, could the SolerMax eternal Et...

Baader D-ERF Question

I am working on a hypothetical Solar scope design were i intend to put a Baader D-ERF behind the telescope optics, and i was wondering if the 75mm D-ERF can withstand about 50 Watts of solar light. When i calculate how much power the filter has to withstand when its infront of the Lens i end up with...

Thank you, im am still satisfighed with the results from the FillFactory CMOS Sensor that was elegidly unsuitable for solar work. but i am looking foreword to my Grasshopper camera (eventhow its only 0.3MP). I will also see if i can find a ICX274 Camera to replace my Fillfactory camera. but with a 8...

Some White-Light with Scorpion 13FFM + Denmark trip

Here is the only frame i was able to capture today with my new Baader Continuum Filter and Q-Turret Barlow Lens. 13FFM-QtB-IRUVC.jpg Anoyingly i did not realize how much light the Continuum filter needed. Thus at F11 (ish) i did not have enough light to do short exposures (the camera was set to 250m...

Re: Calcium K - a bit too keen

Impressive images Alexandra, what interests me is what hardware did you use to create these wonderful images. I would suspect that you essentially double stacked the Lunt CaK with the Baader CaK filter. Based on the images i would suspect the telescope used to be either a Takahashi or a TEC telescop...

Lunt LS50FHA Mod posible?

So my question this time is weather or not a PST style mod using the etelon of a LS50FHA telescope would be posible, and if it would have any benefits compared to a standard PST mod. I am asking because i am currently thinking about buying my first H-Alpha Solar scope, and would like to buy one i ca...
