Absolute pressure in Lunt LS80 etalons.
Today I did pressure measurements in two LS80 etalons. The first was in the band at a pressure of 27-28 PSI, the second at a pressure of 25-26 PSI. Sensitivity to pressure change is not extreme. A change of up to 4-5 PSI can be detected by eye. I am preparing a remote pressure control and this was t...

Second test shot N200/F6 with LS80 and Quark
Second test shot N200/F6, D-ERF 1800mm, ERF Lunt 50mm, LS80DSII+Quark.
Bad seeing and strong wind, but the picture looks promising.
I think I was a little out of range because I feel like the granulation is showing through.

Re: Is imaging the sun still within reach?
After all, it's about having fun. It's not routine. It's great fun and it costs something.
Someone pays 10 thousand USD to travel around the world, we travel all the way to the Sun.
There is nothing more beautiful than the star that gave birth to us.

Nice work and excellent result. It would still need a larger objective diameter and you will have an excellent solar telescope.

Re: Is imaging the sun still within reach?
There are three areas of solar photography. The first is the equipment and the second is the SW for processing and the third is the feeling and ability to process the material. The first two can be bought, the third one everyone has to honestly walk through.
It's not just about the money.
