Had the briefest of gaps this morning in what has been a cloudy weekend, grabbed a quick CaK full disk, 40mm f15 with the zwo183mm. Hope you're getting some sun where you are! Hi Steve, Nice sunspots, but is there an illumination issue on the lower and right hand side of the sun? Not sure how that came about. Maybe it was the levels adjustment ? Timing and patience are everything ... :D I sat watching a repeat of yesterdays wobbles but hung in there for a while and was rewarded with 4 minutes of spectacularly steady air , best 70 frames I've captured for many a year ... the stack fron AS!3 was better than most days before I applied any wave...

Flares are rarely seen in white light but they are possible. By what I have read they are usually strong X class events. That's what I have always been told , this ones a strange one for sure , never seen similar in ten years of imaging. The NASA/SDO Continuum data shows it clearly ruling out an an...

Great stuff, Steve. There does appear to be a decent amount of movement in there. The two umbra regions on the left don't seem to do much but there is most definitely movement between the left two and the right two umbra regions. Well on closer inspection and with a closer crop and speed tweak it would appear that my hunch was correct and I did catch quite a bit of movement in the penumbra between the two main spots in just a couple of hours ... :hamster:

Well my plans to attend the Kelling heath Solar Party were thwarted as soon as I saw how good the seeing was this morning ... :D So I stayed home and made the most of it , even tried a 2 hour animation for the first time , the AR that's grown so over the week looked a good bet to catch some movement...
