Had some moments of lovely seeing whilst catching the disc but I left it too late for close-ups as it deteriorated apace unfortunately. I did manage to salvage one of the largest AR though which I've named "Burt" as it reminds me of the late , great Burt Munro laid prone on his Indian moto...

It should also be noted that the X-2.9 valuation is likely a lot lower than the flare actually produced , as the source was still behind the limb and the x-ray detectors only caught a relatively small part of the blast.

No RAW video , just 34 full frame jpegs from a Canon EOS 6D ... ;)

Hi Steve, Look at your original image Steve_HT_1.JPG Stretching the right side to make the whites white goes down in your image from 255 to 175 (huge) Steve_HT_2.JPG Adn if you want a bit more details on the limb just stretch a bit the middle tones. Hi Steve, Excellent comparison and if you would have made the whites in your image really white (and a lot of people here miss this and leave their whites in a dull grey tone) with a simple Histogramm stretch you are much better then SDO because you have a lot more details in the surface aka rice g...

Wouldn't have been dangerous to us physically ... ;)

But it could have caused immense trauma to the youngsters that have no knowledge of life pre-internet when it quite possibly damaged power supplies and satellite networks ... :lol:

Have you a scrap of Baader film or similar kicking about ? , if so just fit it on the ED80s finderscope and off you go ... even if you have to buy a small sheet of filter material it'll be cheaper than some 'special' Solarfinder.
