Re: moon mars near miss

Great shots there!

There's another opportunity on Jan 30 next year, though of course Mars will be much smaller by then.

Mars Lunar Occultation - first look

Most of the evening looked about like this, at best (after the rain stopped!) clouds small.jpg Fortunately we got crazy lucky with some gaps in the clouds and were able to see about half of the ingress, and all of the egress. Conditions weren't objectively great, but considering the circumstances th...

Very nice images and always interesting to compare WL/Ca/Ha. I like the idea of being able to observe out a window!

Re: Artemis 1 Launch

James, Thanks for that post on NASA. I had kind of forgotten about the whole single stage to orbit notion. I agree NASA's biggest constraints on crewed flight have often come from the government, and they do a pretty good job considering. It must be very frustrating for them to see funding come/go/c...

Those are beautiful pictures! I guess I missed the original post too. The idea of a self-"driven" canal tour sounds like a lot of fun.

Wow!! that is phenomenal :hamster: I have only seen one once and sadly that was driving the car so no chance to photograph it. I think the conditions are quite rare. Alexandra Thanks all! Alexandra, I think you're right. I only remember one previous sighting - also while driving, so no photos. Kevin

Re: Artemis 1 Launch

Unfortunately no human has ever walked on the Moon in my lifetime, so I often wonder whether it was actually possible :) I look forward to seeing how this mission goes. Re: Artemis 1 Launch

I think Artemis is going to bring back a lot of memories for those of us old enough to remember the Apollo landings. Outside of the Vietnam War, those were good times. I wonder if anyone here ever bought the TeleVue 11mm Apollo commemorative eyepiece!? https://televue.com/televueopticstalk/2019/04/...

Re: Artemis 1 Launch

I'm another old-timer who watched all the Apollo coverage I could. As I recall Jules Bergman was my reporter of choice. I well remember looking up at the moon on the night of the first moonwalk and thinking how amazing it was that there were actually people up there. It was very exciting to watch th...

Nice collection! I've never seen (in person) that type of woodpecker before - very pretty.
We still have a couple of hummer feeders out, but it's been probably more than a week now since we've seen one.

Nice setup!
Did you get the Lunt compressor for the pressure tuner? If so how do you like it? I'm usually about a quarter turn from end-of-travel on mine (at 7500 feet) and have been wondering if the compressor would provide more range.
