Thanks guys :) Christopher  Stuart, yes we had a wonderful time and hunted along the beaches every day. The hubby found a fantastic intact Plagiostoma giganteum after splitting a rock. He then knocked the end off trying to make the rock smaller :) Found lots and lots of Belemnites, a few fragme...

Thanks guys :) I look forward to seeing the film Ammonite with Kate Winslet as Mary Anning which they were filming there two weeks before we arrived. Mark, the 3x telecentric was a gift from Luca Valantini which he gave me in 2014. I always needed exceptional seeing for it but it works brilliantly w...

Holiday sunshine

I know I am a bit late to the party but here are some holiday photos and pictures of AR12738. All sunrises were taken from my bed in the morning in Lyme Regis, probably the best little town in Britain. First visit and it certainly won't be the last :) https://live.staticflickr.com/7876/46638788965_a...

Re: Some Sunshine with the Travelling Kit - 13th April

Have a great holiday Mark, the travel kit looks like it is working great :hamster: I purposely didn't take the PST on holiday even though the hubby suggested it. As a consequence we had cloudless blue skies for 6 out of the 7 days and a huge spot Sun too! that would never have happened if I took the...

Fantastic images Stuart :bow I had exactly the same experience! woke up to cloudy skies and was cross (as it has been sunny all week) but then it cleared enough for me to get just a few snaps in WL and Halpha :) seeing was bad, the horrible bubbly/shaky movement.

Now that will teach you set up your solar telescope
I find it is best to hide, pretend you intend to do something completely different that day, wait for the sun to come out, then dash out with scope before the weather can change its mind

Thanks guys. Been searching all week for a bendy straw and haven't managed to find one yet. They have all gone environmentally friendly and are all straight paper straws. Yes it was the Baader Herschel wedge + Continuum filter. They are orientated north up.
Stuart that is a very good idea, a bendy straw :) I like it!!

Sneaky Friday Sunshine

I decided to trick the weather this week and take Friday off work. Of course it was glorious wall to wall blue sky sunshine and as predicted Saturday and Sunday were cloudy  so it was a good idea. I wish Friday's were always part of the weekend as they are consistently sunny. I set up the TEC1...
