Thanks guys :) lots to think about.

Update: Had a chat with Rupert and he says Solarscpectrum are out of stock indefinitely :( however, they seem to be launching something new this weekend which they wouldn't tell him about, so we shall see....

Re: May 6 2021 Observations

I would say you are right about an AR being on the eastern limb, especially as Jozef witnessed an eruptive prom there too. In the coming days will reveal all, never a dull moment. Thanks for the report James :hamster:

Re: Tuning of Quark?

Mmm that's a tough one. If I was just looking at the first I would say -3 or -2 looks best and would be interesting to see further on the scale. Looking at the bottom set, they all don't look that great ;) all look off band to me. Weird!
I would definitely do the whole scale.

Re: Problem with Lunt 50

I'm not sure but I would turn it (clock it) to the lowest amount and then move the Sun completely away from it. It looks like you have lots of room to move the Sun over and out of the way.

Re: May 5 2021 Observations

Great to hear James :hamster: sometimes it good to just get the quick scope out for a look. I never understand why folks sell their starter scope for a bigger aperture, I have never ever wanted to sell my PSTs even though I own a Solarscope, they come in so handy in winter and quick visuals and also...

Re: Tuning of Quark?

Minh, if you use flats it will remove the dark band of 'on band' moving across the image and equalise the band. You need to see where this dark band is to know where centreline 'on band' is :) this will make it much more obvious which dial setting is the correct one.

Catch up 1st May 2021

Last one and I am up to date :) Saturday was very dodgy with the weather, it would rain really hard, then the Sun come out for 30 minutes, then another heavy shower. So I managed to catch the Sun only with the fast set up of the PSTs in gaps. It took two gaps to get the set. I was quite pleased to g...

Re: Sun FD 20210423 - ASI120mm Quark ED70 18 panes

Wow!! that is a really lovely full disc, beautifully done. 18 panes too :bow :hamster: keeping the seeing similar is the hardest part of stitching as you only need one with bad seeing and you get a fuzzy patch. I've very impressed, I need to work on my gradients a bit better after seeing this :) Ale...
