Re: Halo near the sun - technical issues

If you say you only see it after stacking and not in the live view, do you have the camera set on a neutral gamma or raised up a bit? (gamma, not gain) I have seen in the past that if you raise the gamma up a fair bit to try and see prominences in live view I have got a ringing artefact after stacki...

Re: Halo near the sun - technical issues

Are you getting even pressure tuning? Have you tried like Oleg says, maybe completely degas and use the minimal pressure to get on band.

Have you tried moving the Sun around the field of view, does the reflection move with the Sun?

They look fabulous Brian :bow :bow it is certainly a pity that Baader keep chopping up the film into such small squares. If they can produce ND3.8 why chop it up so small, give us the choice. A4 is not a good size choice for round apertures, they could at least give us a square.

Hi Andreas, The double stack etalon usually screws onto the front of the main PST. The obvious thing is to screw it on till it is completely tight, however, if you untwist it slightly you can clock the two etalons together. At one point the two etalons will be exactly paired and you will get the bes...
