Re: Cold weather etalon performance
Thanks Brian, I'm near Fort Frances, in between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. We moved to a lake home that has some great skies, but there are temp extremes. So if I ordered a Lunt 60mm say, there is a VG chance it will work right out of the box? My Quark had to be tuned for my set up and temps...we'll ...

Cold weather etalon performance
I'm still tossing around another Ha set up besides my Quark and have a few questions. My weather here is extreme- right now its -26c with a bright sunny sky and with some VG seeing around here. Will a Lunt 60mm-internal air spaced etalon come on band from the factory? I'm at 1100ft with temps from +...

Re: Quark visual image too dim, please help
Its the exit pupil... the "barlow" of the Quark (about 4.3x)... starting to get pretty small with your eyepiece. My best views with my 90mm f7 are had using an eyepiece reducer and a zoom, but it works great on my 32mm,25mm TV plossls. Finding a low mag, 1.25" eyepiece without a "...

Re: Quark EP issues ?
The 32mm TV plossl has a difficult eye position as the exit pupil is extended past the eyecup. An eyepiece focal reducer screwed onto the 32mm TV pulls the exit pupil in and gives a nice useable reduction. My favorite eyepiece with the Quark is a zoom with a 19mm field stop @ 25mm and used with the ...

I use Beloptiks UV/IR filter on my 120ED/ prism diag for the mini ERF. I heard Daystars UV/IR is from Astronomik and the Baader is said to work very well, more reflective than mine I think ( not positive).

Re: Polarizer for visual/Quark
Thank you Alexandra, the info in your links is fantastic. I briefly read them a while back and am going back for another go at it. The graph of the DS vs the SS shows the difference of the "area under the curves" which makes sense to me. I never considered that the polariser may reduce out...

Thanks Valery- why would this filter enhance the views? The proms like more light with it and the surface detail less. Does anyone image using such a filter? Polarizer for visual/Quark
I have received my Quark back from Daystar and it is working well- no banding, for visual at least. Also when I rotate the EP/polarizer the view can g...

I watched the event starting as a triangular solid lump on the sun, to the jump and disappearance. The view through my Quark 90mm SV APO was photographic like- very high detail and sharp as a razor. The SW120ED upped the view again. Great catch ishua! I hope some others caught it too.

Budget is a concern and so is early success! I'm viewing the sun with the Quark in good skies and am shocked at the detail, razor sharp with a nice line of fuzz and little spikes all around the disk.
