Re: Early Saturday Calcium 16th March

Well that’s a revelation! In summer with a clear sky and no jet stream collecting data for a timelapse animation is my favourite thing to do. As we know, as the sun rises early morning it gets brighter so I have been sitting and manually knocking the gain back until it settles. This means I can set...

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! Auto gain?! That would be a help for early morning time lapse recordings in summer. How do you activate it? Nic, you can find autogain by clicking 'more' on the control tab in FC. I normally go 92% for CaK and Ha, slightly less for WL https://live.staticflickr....

Could you please explain why on-band CaK results in soft images? Hi Kevin. Maybe I should have widened the statement to say 'with double (or triple) stacked CaK filters in long focal ratio beams' - This is because you are reducing the amount of out of band contiunnum or parasitic leakage either sid...

Early Saturday Calcium 16th March

I woke this morning to clear skies at dawn, but the weather forecast had weather racing in from the west, fast. I knew I had to be setup ready for the moment the sun cleared the local urban horizion so was stood waiting with a coffee. Ideally I wanted to have more time to experiment with critically ...

Just playing devils advocate here - how do you know this is giving you a 2x magnification in the system? Have you measured it or just taking what it says on the box?

These are impressive Oleg!

The only thing I would say is I think you will get away with a lot less frames for the capture file for the (partial) CaK disk. Try 1000 and stack 10%, will speed up the work flow.

Playing catchup here, the weekend goes too quickly and the week is racing too!
