Fine discs, David.

AR102S is a quite short refractor but the Cak image is good, have you stopped the aperture ?
Thanks, yes I stop it down to 50mm to get a sharp image. It's horrible @ full aperture

Re: The Sun - 20th September 2020

Thanks all for the kind comments. Waiting David to see what you image over the next few days - with a possible/probable new AR about to arrive. The Cak prom has come out very well. Can i suggest David, that a little sharpening of your Cak image will show more definition of the surface detail. (I've ...

The Sun - 20th September 2020

Still windy today but not quite so bad as yesterday so I took the Evostar out for a look visually to start off. Picked up an ES 4.7mm 82 degree eyepiece this week primarily for use on Mars, thought I would unleash it on the Sun  Didn't expect much at 212x but actually in moments of good seein...

The Sun - 19th September 2020

Sunny skies but rather windy today. Not a lot to grab your interest on the Sun at the moment but I didn't want to waste the clear skies. Limited to using the Bresser again today as the wind was too much for the big Evostar.

The Sun - 13th September 2020

Poor weather, lots of work and low activity levels mean I haven't imaged the Sun in a few weeks now. Still low activity levels but did catch some better weather today so decided to grab something quick. There was still quite a stiff breeze and some passing clouds so I decided to go with the Bresser ...

The Sun - 8th August 2020

Early start this morning, too hot to sleep anyway.Seeing was a bit up and down but managed something in all three lights. Ca-K full disk, the usual 6 pane semi inverted false colour variety 20200808_Ca-K_6PaneFD.jpg The only half-decent prom in Ca-K 20200808_Ca-K_Prom_2000mm.jpg And a mosaic of the ...

The Sun - 2nd August 2020

Finally some half-decent seeing! Tried to image yesterday and Thursday but the seeing was horrible. After that I almost didn't bother setting up! Managed to get something in all three lights today. Still struggled a bit with Ca-K, ICE kept messing up the stitch of my 6 pane full disk. Eventaully got...

Nice report James. Skies were clear here early yesterday but unfortunately I had to work. Forecast looks poor the next couple of days but hope to get a look in over the weekend.

Excellent set Eric. Lots of cloud and no sun here. Fortunately the Sun is quiet so I am not missing anything but I would really like to see comet Neowise.

The Sun - 12th July 2020

A bit late posting these for a number of reasons (busy Sunday + my laptop seems to have develop an aversion to connecting to our router all of a sudden). Yesterday was the first decent session with both the Quark and the Evostar 120. Although the seeing was quite variable at times at least the winds...

The Sun - 11th July 2020

Early session today. Started out with Ca-K and WL then moved on to H Alpha. Seeing had gone by the time I got H Alpha , that and the lack of obvious features meant I did not image in H Alpha today. 20200711_WL_AR102xs_FD.jpg 20200711_Ca-K_6PaneFD.jpg 20200711_Ca-K_Surface_3x.jpg 20200711_Ca-K_Prom1....

Re: The Sun - 5th July 2020

Thanks All :bow2 I had a play with collimating the focuser on the Bresser while the weather was poor, think it has helped a bit. Batteries in my laser collimator were on the way out at the time, armed with some fresh ones I will have another go now. Hopefully at some point the wind will die down eno...

The Sun - 5th July 2020

A bit of sunshine today but also very windy. Almost decided not to go out with the wind being so strong but in the end temptation won out! With the winds being what they were I was limited to the Bresser scope but still managed to grab some full disk white light and Ca-K data. Also managed to grab m...
