Re: From Valery. Kherson liberation.

My own family fled Vilnius due the Russians (and Nazi's) and ended up half a world away...one wonders what it will take
to finally teach the soviets that their actions are reprehensible and will not be tolerated.

Excellent news, and wishing you all the best!

Nov 25 HA Disk

My most recent Ha disk is here.

Unfortunately observations for the next week or so look unlikely due an extensive weather system descending on the Australian
east cost.

Re: November 23 Ha Disk

Thank you for the positive feedback. And a SPOD too boot :D FYI the system I am using is an original Coronado SM90 plus Meade tunable SM90 and BF30 (Beloptik ITF....doesn't "rust" and has a much tighter bandwidth, reasonably priced...highly recommended! ) AP130GTX BARCON and QHY533M. Depen...

Ta. Indeed, I'm located at the southern edge of Sydney.

Weather here has been a tragedy until fairly recently....but I'll take rain over the bushfires any day :)

Re: Ha Disk November 19 2022

Thanks. Looks like I'll be retiring my 9Mp Point Grey/FLIR camera due the new QHY533m having a square format 1" sensor, almost double the frame rate, with no read-out artifacts, that you typically get with brighter objects and a CCD (similar to blooming). The cooled sensor is also a plus. The P...

Ha Disk November 19 2022

Today's H-alpha sun. Seeing was not great, due convective cloud that is fairly typical of my neck of the woods (Sydney)
this time of year.

FSQ106 lens cell

I'd appreciate it if anyone can advise me of the thread pitch and diameter of the Takahashi FSQ106 EDXIII objective cell, with the view to making a screw in adapter for a Coronado SM90.....unfortunately precise parts do not have this on their data-base. Alternatively a link to a suitable commercial ...

Re: November 16th H-alpha disk

Thanks for the feedback. It's a single exposure, but I run my PGR 6.0mp camera in 16bit, gamma off. PGR's internal gamma look-up-table is not good. It causes posterization /banding in low contrast areas, hence I'm effectively shooting in RAW and stretching the data later. The downside to 16bit is th...

Several weather fronts passing through the Sydney region, hence the seeing was very average,
that said, we had a clear window late morning.
