Solar Analemma. This outstanding image from Alexandra Hart taken over a period of 4 years charts the midday position of the sun in the sky throughout the year. The north–south component of the analemma results from the change in the Sun's declination due to the tilt of Earth's axis of rotation. The east–west component results from the nonuniform rate of change of the Sun's right ascension, governed by combined effects of Earth's axial tilt and orbital eccentricity.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and looking forward to a great solar cycle 25!

Re: First light for the Basler 1920-155um based upon the IMX

Sorry I didn't see your post before. The Basler presents light newton rings, but it's very faint when compared with a CMOSIS for example. I used a tilt adaptor and they are gone once for all. I use flat for dust only if needed. I do make darks but that's quite straight forward. The Basler doesn't h...

Re: 1" Grasshopper USB 3.0 NIR Camera

Thanks for the reply Brian I do not know exactly which is the technique of "TILT" is there any mechanical element to some kind of gradual adjustment as the flat is quite feasible when we partial regions of the sun, just blurring and we have a flat, but is rather more complicated when we do the whole...

Re: grasshopper 3 CCD camera ICX625

I had a spectrum sunscreen of 0.3A and was very sensitive to newton rings
neither crowned nor lunt accuse both this problem as it is not forced to work long focal relationships

grasshopper 3 CCD camera ICX625

Hello fellow has anyone tried this camera http://www.edmundoptics.com/imaging/cameras/usb-cameras/point-grey-grasshopper-3-high-performance-usb-3-0-cameras/89527 to the sun in H-alpha? initially had thought of a camera with CMOS sensor bigger but I'm watching the CCD has less problems so I'm reconfi...

Re: First light for the Basler 1920-155um based upon the IMX

Stunning images Frederic see that to remove the banding caused by certain cameras the tilt, as you do? There are some mechanical element to do? you understand what you tilt the plane of the sensor is on the optical axis, is it? I while back I had problems with banding Lumenera Infinity 2-1 spectrum ...

Re: 1" Grasshopper USB 3.0 NIR Camera

Looking specifications CMOS sensors ZWO see that both ASI120 as DMK72 have a rolling shutter and both produce the same banding pattern newton rings,
I see that the camera based on CMOSIS CMV4000 carries a global shutter, it will be favorable to minimize newton rings?
thank you

Re: CMOSIS CMV4000 Chip - Experiences???

Interesting thread peers thank you for opening the debate and try to clarify concepts around these sensors my experience with the different sensors I've had, the only one I've tried CMOS (DMK72-micron MT9P031) was disastrous with strong banding effect at all focal relationships, with Lumenera Infini...

Re: 1" Grasshopper USB 3.0 NIR Camera

So had thought of a square sensor, for a circular disc fits better, shame that the CMOSIS CMV4000 these problems occur, however the banding effect that only chip I've seen in images taken enormous focal relationships, my experience in the past had a solar spectrum of 0.3A operating at f30 and the Lu...

thank you very much I am currently doing the entire sun in a mosaic tesserae 2 with a focal length of 600mm with the DMK51 camera and Coronado SolarMax 60 filter, but when I do the big team lunt filter 100 + 100/1000 telescope mosaic 6 the resolution is extraordinary and looking for a great camera t...

Re: 1" Grasshopper USB 3.0 NIR Camera

Thank you very much for your comments, are extremely helpful to draw conclusions, what I'm seeing is that the sensor size I like 1" if I have to scrap the CMOS'm going to more than double in price equivalent CCD. All that madness telling me confirms my experience with the DMK72 is identical to the p...

Re: 1" Grasshopper USB 3.0 NIR Camera

1" Grasshopper USB 3.0 NIR Camera

Hello fellow this is my first intervention in forum I am interested in the camera point gree 1 "grasshopper 3 USB 3.0 NIR 2048x2048 CMOSIS CMV4000 I've thought about this camera for the whole sun with a team of 1 meter focal f10 now I have a DMK51 with which I am very happy but looking for a camera ...
