Re: RAM Capture?

Chris... I have been using Lucam Recorder for years, and it works very well. My preference for it revolves around the built in filter wheel interface and the ability to run scripts/sequences through 8 different filters. The capture to RAM works nicely too. I should try a sequence with and without RA...

Re: Professional Solar Astronomers???

Hi all... It think that it would be a great opportunity to share our collective work providing we can find a contact to network our results through. This works very well on the planetary front, where John Rogers from the BAA (British Astronomical Association) and ALPO pools the images submitted (man...

April 22nd images - 1st Installment

Hello everyone... I was able to spend a few hours imaging yesterday...not withouot frustratiosn of course  The seeing was variable and the high thin cirrus mannaged to linger in the part of the sky the sun occupied. Clear as a bell to the west, and the cloud seemed to drift equally far west as...

Re: Need help - European delivery and prices

Hi Gabor... What do the European countries charge in the way of import duties/taxes on new or used good bought from the US or Canada? Maybe other forum members have experience they can share. I connected a fellow from Poland (I belive) a few years ago to get a LS50 etalon from a dealers stock and ha...

Re: April 18th Mosaics

Hi florencior... I don't usually rate my seeing as beign very good ;) So far, just about all my solar work is generated from 300 frame sequences, and run them through Registax which stack the best 80% (240 frames). On the higher mag images I need to grab more raw frames...they look ok, but on the gr...

Re: April 18th Mosaics

My thanks to everyone for their comments. I agree that the EFL should have been dropped back...I had the 2x teleconverter used on the quadrant images, and wanted to push it a bit more but the 5x is my only other barlow. If I wasn't trying to squeeze as much into my lunch break I would have cannibali...

Hi Chris...

I'm hoping the weatherman delivers sun tomorrow...this time of year Sunday usually is my best opportunity to spend as much time as I can for solar. I've been watching the sunspots develop on Richard WL images an it is lookign pretty sweet be out there.

April 18th Mosaics

Hello everyone... I made up 2 mosaics from the images captured on Wednesday. Seeing conditions varied so much between frames I found it hard to get a decent match on most, but I did a 2 frame mosaic of AR1459 and used 3 frames to cover AR1460. AR1459 is the better of the 2 in my opinion...both form ...

Re: Comments wanted re Filament from 19th

Hi Derek... I'm not able to provide much of a technical comment...I see that dark filament in the image last night and was intrigued by it. Now that you have the enlarged portion posted, I'd saw it looks like a dark 'needle' piercing the ribbon below it. Is suppose the dark material could be thinng ...
