Re: PST Etalon Adjustment

I did receive them, but I have not replaced them yet. The other day I dismounted them again, as I remembered there were various threaded-holes in it and at the same time I found that article about changing where you place the screw. Well, to make it short I moved it from 1 to number 3 and now the tu...

Re: PST + DSLR Full disk problem ... AMENDED

If you can buy a new one, it seems the 174M is top with the PST! I am only using the 178M, because I own one and save me to spend more than I have. Which Skyris Model do you have exactly? I am no expert, but I might be able to help and in any case you need to add that Barlow Nosepiece [the tip of th...

Re: PST + DSLR Full disk problem ...

Personally, I wouldn't waste time trying to image in Ha using a DSLR results are mediocre at best. You need a short c-mount nosepiece https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Short-C-Mount-to-1-25-Barrel-Adapter-f-Telescope-Astrophotography-10mm-Height/323327080055?hash=item4b47cbb677:g:KaUAAOSw9GhYdZPW:rk:2:pf:...

Re: PST + DSLR Full disk problem ...

Hi Yes, I read that 'nice PDF' and it it is one of the things I could not try yet - because I do not have a Shorty. Therefore I used a 22mm Barlow tip and stupiditely forgot about the 35mm eyepiece holder he had and also mine is 30mm - so I need to reach 30mm. I think I am getting it now - I forgot ...

Re: PST + DSLR Full disk problem ...

Hi Bart Yes, I know it is quiet although yesterday although I saw 3-4 prominences [one arching!] with other cameras. I am not talking about surface features, but simply DSLR not focusing on granulation and 'barely' focus on prominences - i.e. DSLR is not focusing and other cameras are. I cannot reac...

PST + DSLR Full disk problem ... AMENDED

AMENDED sizes - Barlow tip is 15mm, not 22mm ! ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi all [please remember I am not expert!] I managed to get a second or third hand PST and I have fixed the play with the tuner by simply adjusting the fitting screw onto the 3rd threaded hole ...

Re: New PST ITF?

I had a look at that already and also been reading 'a lot' about these 'trap' filters - trap in the sense Astronomy sellers 'cartel' try always to push you buying more than you really need. That above was my input in general with filters and prices and - do I really need that? Type of thing! About t...

Re: New PST ITF?

I know this is an old thread. I do need to replace the ITF from a second hand PST I managed to get. I have a few questions for the experts here, please. 1. I believe it is probably worth getting the ITF from Maier [out of stock] - not just for the price, but because it does not have the second prote...

Re: ARs on Sept 6

I never said thank you for your replies.

Gosh, almost a year passed and I am back trying to get more into solar!

I might get a Lunt 50 - if I can afford it.

Sorry again - I am too busy trying to put food on the table these days more than usual.

Re: lunt 50 mod

Hi What an interesting discussion. I am newbie on Solar and still deciding if to get a PST new [second hand is rare to find they go like cakes - obviously affordable!] But I have been thinking to jump forward and get a Lunt 50 and then 'in the future - not now' possibly modify it to use on my AR152 ...

Re: ARs on Sept 6

Hi I am new to this forum - sent here from Charlie Bates Facebook Page and I am just a dabber - although from many years on and off ... and poor! Anyway, which wedge did you use for these images? I am personally thinking to get the Altair Solar Wedge [I am not really into solar at all!] so I can do ...
