Daystar Quarks

Hi Setting off on an experience with a Chromosphere and a Prominence Quark. I am lucky the SH Chromo 4.2x is a special one made for a Sky at Night solar imaging attempt with PE mica selected for uniformity. It shows a nice view visually with a dark background. I also have a SH Combo Prom. Rod has re...

Re: Santel M180 F10 Rumak Maksutov first light

Hi

The M180 has gone to my 'engineering facility' to be physically and optically lined up, have custom baffles added to the OTA, slide in to preserve night time use my engineer said, and have the PST etalon auto-collimated using a tilter for the scope.

Looking forward to the result.

Cheers. Andrew.

Re: May 21 2020 Observations

Hi

I saw a double prom like a pair of bookends back to back at 5oclock for me and a thin faint jet up to the right.

Rest of day a washout due to light clouds.

Cheers. Andrew.

Hi

Nice detailed image of the big proms.

I was fortunate to see it later in the day in the M180 and it looked just like your image.

Hi

Could you please re-sample the coloured view of the hedgerow prom, or caterpillar rather then the worm I called it, to be 72x to match my visual magnification so I can compare like for like.

Thanks. Andrew.

Hi Updated my Profile a little. I am in Derbyshire looking over the first hill at the south end of the Peak District. Planes use the Peak as a navigation aid, sticks up in the day, a dark spot inside the surrounding light pollution at night. In normal times you can see about 6 planes over the Peak a...

Re: Etalon info for beginners

Hi The PST shows a whole Sun view with prominences visible. For visual on Prominences my M180 PST Stage 2 Mod shows brighter more contrasty images than a Daystar Quark I recently bought. Issue is a small sweet spot and ghosts off the PST etalon, you have to rotate the etalon in the focusser to move ...

Hi I received the two 10x Chinese microscope eyepieces for the 45Deg microscope bino-viewers AstroRod modified to have a 2" nosepiece.. These give me the same magnification as my 25mm Clave' Plossl. Hi I do not like cloud storage where when you open up they insist on synching all your images, like you are an avid social media poster. Slowing things down. Is there a suitable site where you can manually Post an image and thats it? Hi Brian, 100DS is a play on the name of the Daystar DS60 product....

100DS - Modified Quark using 2" 35nm ERF.

Hi, I decided I needed more light pushing through my Quarks to make the image brighter and more contrasty. Based on the 60DS I decided to use my Macro lens reducer technology I use on my night-time scopes. To make a Celestron/Skywatcher 102mm F5 look to the 4.2x Quark like the 60DS lens. First is a ...

Hi,

Very nice.

I was testing my new 100DS Quark, stuffing more light in.

And I had a pleasing view of your largest prom.

Getting a bit more contrast like my M180 PST Mod2 and a dark background still.
