Re: Quark > Optical Design > Detail available?

A telecentric amplifier gets longer as the amplification factor increases, or you need to use very short FL negative front lens. And that doesn't come free optically speaking.

Re: Autofocusing coming to Genika

Any ASCOM focuser wil do if it is an absolute one, most steppers focusers are.

Here is a link to the user manual, everything is explained there : http://airylab.com/Drivers/EN%20documen ... 202.13.pdf

The new release is online now.

Re: Autofocusing coming to Genika

Maybe an issue is that Genika requires an absolute focuser. If the focuser is a PWM focuser (pulse wide modulation) then it is a relative one.

Re: Autofocusing coming to Genika

@Alexandra and Mark : the new focus score is also present in the manual focusing, along with a new slopes display (image derivate). This release should be online by the end of this week. @Paul : I know I had a few awful issues with the 2.12 release due to several changes (Visual studio 2010 to 2015 ...

Autofocusing coming to Genika

Hello all, I've been working on a real planetary/moon/solar autofocus implementation for a while, and here is the first fully automated run in video. It's done on the 203mm HaT, there couldn't have been worst condition : dust on the sensor, bad bad seeing, low featureless sun... But it works ! The g...

Bad bad bad BF30

Hello all, a customer of mine had issues with a SM90 with a BF30. he told me the images were pretty soft and his PST was delivering almost better images. I was curious and offer him my help even if this kind of services is not what I usually propose. He sent me the whole shebang, includind the refra...

A good seeing after the storm !

Hello all, we had a storm in south of France end of last week. After it was gone on saturday the sky was very clear (and the Moon almost full as always !) and the seeing was pretty good with some quiet moments under 1". It was so nice that I finally decided to get the bino off and put the camera... ...

That is a nice animation given the conditions. Did you make a recording of the seeing conditions over time and a survey of different location in your backyard with the SSM ? Sometimes a few meters change a lot !

First light for Solar Spectrum 0.3A and new HaT batch

Hello all, here is the first image done with one of the new HaT batch, and a Solar Spectrum 0.3A. This filter has been overhauled by Mark with new blockers, and it gives an amazing view. Actually it is so nice that that I was not in a hurry to make an image :) The temperature setup is very precise a...

Never seen that on a Basler IMX174.
Did you try dark/flat ? A flat should solve it.

Re: Recommendations for lx200 In HA

Hello Mark, the ordinate shows the number of image you need to have one that matches the Fried criterion (that is a wavefront error of lambda/2Pi RMS, which isn't very ambitious optically speaking by the way) in lucky imaging mode. And X axis is the Fried r0 value in cm. So that means that with a 10...

Re: Recommendations for lx200 In HA

I agree that you can exceed the optical resolution as stated with the obsolete Rayleight definition thanks to processing. But when it is not good enough, you cap to a lower resolution. I would even say that a smaller aperture would give better results when the seeing isn't good enough. Honestly, I s...

Re: Baader D-ERF Question

An important detail : when considering a window, we don't care much about the surface quality. What is important is parallelism. When ordering a window from a supplier, I take great care to mention a transmitted wavefront error :) That's why the astroslar is quite good : because its thickness is qui...

Re: Recommendations for lx200 In HA

Having a 8" and a 11" HaT, I don't agree with you Valery. The larger the aperture, the more sensitive it is to turbulence. It is very well put when looking in Kolmogorov r0 statistic to have a good image. One the following graph, you have the number of image to acquire to get one good, depending on ...

I'm very happy to see Coronado again. I always found that they were much superior to Lunt instruments. I hope it is still the case with the new owner !
