AR2529, new setup, good seeing

Hello all, I had a very good seeing this morning, and in a very peculiar condition. A mid altitude cloud was staying above the house when I decided to have the first light of the new telescope, first solar session this year. Actually I was planing to wait it to dissolve before really testing, but I ...

Re: Getting To Grips With The HaT - 5th April

When you see the spicules on the limb like in your last image, that means you are getting close :)

HaT like Ha-Telescope, or the thing you wear when doing solar observation !

It may cause some interference fringes, but it is not that close from the sensor.
Regarding the imaging quality, cooling has no advantage for solar. It does for DSO imaging.

Do you know if they aspherized the lens to work in Ha band ? An F6 200 refractor as a huge amount of spherochromatism.

Do you use morphing only or more advanced reconstruction ?

Re: Images to process

It was at native FL, I don't use a Barlow with the HaT.
I know that Regis De Benedictis in France pushes more in FL with his HaT with good result though.

Images to process

Hello all, I've been amazed by the thread Valery started about your way of processing images. I'm not the best image processing guy in the world - at all - and there are a few images that should be transcended by your processing skills if you wish. Here are four images of one field of AR2192 shot in...

Re: Firecapture - Blackfly - Atmospheric dispersion correcto

Hello Alexandra, Genika has no support for PGR color cameras. It does color only with ZWO and Basler. It could record (you need to give me the serial to activate the license, and then you could record), but there will be no SER Bayer scheme encoding in the file (but you can select it manually) nor o...

Re: Solar imaging with a 11" EdgeHD

My company have done two 11" HaT telescopes against more than a dozen 8". One for Thierry Legault as Christian mentionned, and one for me in replacement of my previous 8" HaT. We made just a couple for a reason. First making those telescope is outragously difficult because of the coating homogeneity...

Can't tell you for the ZWO, but the Basler achieved 2200 fps at this size (with internal 12 bits processing, not 10 bits).

Re: New DMK with Sony 174 chip

We usually have plenty of light in solar imaging. With the HaT and the PST Etalon my exposure is about 3ms at F/D 27.5. That gives room for higher throuput.
In white light it is sub ms.
The IMX174 presents very good performances with full 24db gain.

Re: Genika Astro 2.9.4 is available

Honestly I don't know Valery.
Readout speed may impact the read out noise, but rather on a CCD sensor than with a CMOS.
The only way to know is it measure the RON in both modes, or ask PGR.

The Basler 1920 can go at more than 1000 fps with AoI :)
