Re: Spectroheliograms from 17th & 18th March 2023
Can you tell me what the exposure and gain were for the three wavelengths? I'm curious how much attenuation you get with the Herschel wedge. As you may know, I use my own quartz slits that require only a UV/IR filter so I typically operate near 1ms and zero gain. Checking out the log files for the ...

Fantastic white light image Nic.
In regards the Evostar 80 dew shield,I found this review of the scope https://astrofarsography.com/skywatcher ... 0ed-review and the reviewer states that the objective lens is supported within the dew shield rather than the tube so isn't removable.

Yes, I think it's possible. Thank you Rainer. I forgot to add this little gif of one of the scans I recorded in the Halpha wavelength on the 17th at the time a flare (or some activity) was in progress around sunspot AR3256. Scan is cropped to the specific part of the scan area to cut down file size. Cloud drifted through whils...

Great result Rainer. I have the CEM60 and had problems with the USB 2 hub by way of always dropping connections so I ripped it out of the mount along with all the onboard wiring. I got a project box and installed the hub in to it thinking I use it off the mount and the thing still don't work. As you...

Re: Hbeta & Halpha spectroheliograms 2023-02-22
What is a scan? I know nothing about one of these except it can image in any spectral line. Because of this they have great potential. A scan is where the slit of the spectroheliograph is placed to one side of the solar disk then using a 16x (or less) sidereal speed on the mount and a fast frame pl...
