Yeah it's calm. Good timing for me, it looks like a no-go cloudy day again for me. So for me it's GONG, SDO and all you imagers/observers on SolarChat. That's not a bad thing!

Only a few minutes after I post these I get an alert from SpaceWeatherLive on my phone. I think this is indicative of a flare on the SE limb!!

Following Terry's lead I check on the Sun before going to bed tonight. Here's what the SDO shows. I think the SE has an approaching active region on the SE limb as Terry has shown on the STEREO image. Look at that prom! And is that bright spot a flare that I see above it!? Being the diehard solar observer I am, I hardly post here on Sunlit Earth but I do in fact like nature photography. Here is one I photographed of a meadow near my home on September 15th on my way to work. It's an iPhone image! Even though I downsized it a bit it's still a larger file than I intended...

Session time is from 15:00 to 15:32 UTC. The skies are overcast with varying thicknesses of high to medium clouds. The seeing is hard to determine. The temperature is 77F ( 25C ). Ivan, Russia has produced for many years some of the best performers in the fine arts. Classical music, opera, ballet etc. And I do like balalaika folk music! For Rock Hill it was actually a bit cooler than typical. 30C plus is common there. My Edneyville home in the NC mountains is always a bit cooler.

Very nice images Arne and I love the setup. I have thought about getting a Moonlite focuser for my Orion70.

Is your Coronado a SolarMax or early SolarMax II? I notice it has an anodized tube.

Session time is from 14:20 to 15:21 UTC. The skies are mostly clear with the seeing a bit below average. The temperature is 74F ( 23.3C ). I am back home in Edneyville N.C. today. Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x, 44.5x and 64x ( Ha ) I can see 4 active region disturbances on the Ha solar disc today....

Session time is 13:24 until 15:00 UTC. The skies are clear but very hazy with a nearly milky white sky. The seeing is a bit below average. The temperature is 73F ( 22.7C ) at 14:00 UTC. From Rock Hill S.C. Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 25x ( Ha ) I can see 6 plage regions in Ha today. AR12868 ...
