Winter Solstice Prominence Animation

Seasons greetings solar friends. A beautiful weekend here in the US midwest for the winter solstice. I managed a pretty good imaging session yesterday despite the lowest possible angles. Happy holidays to you all!

Yes, the neverending battle against dust motes...exacerbated by spring pollen and shedding trees. Perhaps they make an "autoblower" for such purposes :cool: The Trigger Threshold was 1.6 and the Discard Threshold was 2.4. I try to strike a balance on these settings based on the prevailing ...

Finished processing an animation from Sunday May 5th. I love doing these and it was so nice to have a confluence of time, weather and and interesting target (AR2740). This is 26 frames of 150/500 stacks captured between 13:36 and 14:57 EDT using a Lunt LS100THa/B1800, 5x PowerMate, and a PGR Grassho...

This is a great first animation. I also use Firecapture with SSM and it works very well using the plug in developed by PDB (user on SolarChat).

Thanks to all who chimed in. It has cleared some things up for me (excuse the pun :P ). I can see how they benefit the image through narrowing the wavelength the camera is recording. Seems that this results in better contrast and structural details. No one indicated that they found the extra data us...

I believe they relaxed the struts so it would lie flatter. I wouldn’t want be around to see it roll off its perch :o

This is a one of a kind scope designed by a renowned optician. It belongs at 8,000 feet altitude in New Mexico. I’d love to have a peak. :beanie:
