Thanks :) Alexandra Alexandra, you want to attach the etalon to the visual back of the C11. You can use a SCT to 2 inch adapter. Buy a 2 inch nosepiece for the etalon and connect the two. Nosepiece for f/8 refractor. Front adapter for PST etalon made by AOK. Inside there is a 1:1,25 Baader Glasspath, this way you can use for example a f/8 refractor in combination with a PST etalon. I used it in combination with a 150mm f/8 Skywatcher.

Thanks, Bart, glad you like it. As for your setup - this is with a PST etalon, correct? So the Intes can manage the required 200 mm backfocus, or is it some other approach? Yes, it is with a single PST etalon, lenses still in place. The Intes has more than enough backfocus so 200mm is not a problem...

A set-up like this is quite ideal to check if the primary of for example your C8 is focussed the way it should with a PST mod. Just connect the train (the etalon and everything after that) and focus with the primary.

Second issue: there is no more central part reflecting the laser for collimation. You need then a very sturdy setup suitable to keep the collimation stable (star collimation). Maybe that can be solved when using something like this: https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/...

Hi Ken, the filter that is useful is the thin one, diameter about 25 mm, it is the first one after the lens.
The one with the bright reflective coating is the one which is often deteriorated. It is way thicker than the front one.

It focuses the incoming beam onto a water-cooled 1.6 mm field stop that reflects most of the image out of the telescope and transmits only a 2.5 by 2.5 arcmin subfield to the re-imaging optics and cameras. Can you compare that effect with using a very small secondary mirror in a Solar Newton? A lot...

The front lens has to be minus 200mm, not the etalon. So in this case you position the etalon with the foucusser fully racked in. 80mm extensions before the etalon. With the front lens mounted right there.
About 200mm after the etalon will be the new focus point.

Aha, you have taken the whole piece out, not just the front lens. Sometimes it means cutting the telescope 4 to 6 cm, because the backfocus is somewhere be...

Ehm. The threading of the etalon is not m48. The front part of the front AOK adapter is M48. You could indeed try to install the front lens of the etalon in the nosepiece of the AOK adapter. If the telescope you are talking about has not enough back focus.

Don't understand completely what you are saying. In a f/10 telescope the front lens should be placed at minus 200mm from the focal point. It is true that you can mount the etalon (without the front lens) further back. The distance from the backlens of the etalon to the focal point is about 200mm.

Is that a 6 cm etalon?
If combined with a Quark yor focal ratio would be something like this:
(4.3×2000)/60 = f/143. It will not work. Even with a focal reducer there is not enough light.

If you can measure the distance of the focus of the incoming lightcone that is reflected in the 35nm filter you know how far you are from the real focus point of the C8. If you use the etalon in a 100mm f5 telescope and position the etalon at minus 20cm of the focal point, then there is aperture loss. The systems functions as a 50mm f/10. What you could do is just lay the camera on your desk when connected tot the computer. Aim at a light. Increase gain and decrease exposure time. If I do so there is a grid visible with the asi178mm.

I think you can gain about 5mm with the low profile adapter. But then you can't use the protect window of the 174. So you might need an external IR filter, which means you will loose a couple of milimeter again.
