Re: SOLEX spectrohelograph project - 3D printing DIY
Hi, I printed the 3D parts already during February - March. (Took around 65 hours of 3D printing), waiting for the Shelyak Parts. Because of the unforseen success (~150 orders for the parts) there was some delay. Shelyak also decided to deliver a longer slit (4.5mm :D ) and an extra camera lens (so ...

For Solar I always(with some exceptions) use my ASI178 in 16bit mode and 14bit ADC. On that camera (if your USB is good) there is no speed difference between 16 and 8 bit. (There is if you change to high-speed with 10bit ADC, but you loose dynamic range)

According to ZWO, the 12bit full frame rate is 128fps and 164 in 10bit. In Firecapture, I only have a checkbox for 16bit on/off To get the highest speed and use the 10bit ADC you have to set the tick mark in 'High-Speed'. Hello David, Maybe you could try to match the SSM log file (either from Airylab or my software) to the frames from FireCapture. Best would be in that case to capture in SER format, where every frame will have a good timestamp. Difficulty will be to match it with the "sorted" frames in AS!3...

Alexandra, if you recorded in SER format, the player will report the framerate the file was recorded. If I look at the size & speed (in '/min) for that transit, I would say everything above 40fps the ISS image will be overlapping from one frame to the next. (80fps probably half the ISS size) Paul

Luck is usually the major factor for these events. (Needs to be one, low passagge, weather needs to be good ...)
Do yo have some info on the shutter speed you used. Since it is CAK probably you couldn't use the shortest exposure, but still remarkable sharp.
