Animations with FireCapture

Today I tried my very first (short) animation, it is very rough and uneven between single images, I hope to do better with practice. 5_2020-05-26-091403-0000_3_grad4_ap58_out crop_aligned.gif I read on the excellent guide " How to image the Sun " that "FireCapture can be set to take a...

W prom and spotless AR in H-alpha

I was forced to give up with CaK for now as bad seeing conditions persists on N Italy, so I made few images in H-alpha of that impressive prom on the W limb and of the spotless bright region that is about to turn on the other side. I have also taken several videos of the prom as I intended to assemb...

Hello John, I used of the original BF assembly of my Lunt module. The Barlow is a Takahashi extender, an air-spaced doublet with only 20 mm of free aperture. Given the dramatic improvement I had I am now planning to purchase a larger focal extender, possibly of a telecentric type.

I agree in principle, Mark, however I could not detect any sweet spot with my calcium devices used with ordinary barlows, may be because the sensor area is small compared to the FOV one uses for observing visually in H-alpha. Daystar, for example, doesn't recommend barlows nor telecentrics for calci...
