Mark, an even better way is to capture five images, one with the sun in the middle, and the other four put the center of the sun in the corners. I only tried flats for HR images, not for full disk. What was your method?

Get your tuning perfectly as you want it, move fov to be EXACTLY dead centre on the solar disk, defocus, capture your avi and then generate a flat from this in avistack...

I tried the flats but it's not an easy task (it seems to work only in HR - barlow in the optic train...) best regards Can you describe how you tried to make the flats for your full disk mosaics Pedro? What problems were you having? It took me a while but I reckon I have them sorted...

I think it's going to be my new method of choice for mosaics: I've spent pretty much all day mastering iterative USM to come up with settings that work at the scale I do my full disk images. Next step is to learn how to do a prom mask prior to sharpening...

Hi Richard. If was me I would mount on the OTA with the best quality objective and the best focusser. I'd err for the Vixen over the ST80. All my full disk shots are taken at f21, however when I try the 2.5x powermate (giving me f26.5) I always think the image has broken down and is rather soft and ...

You've been lucky to get some sun at all today Richard! Steadily snowing here now. I've decided to just batten down the hatches, keep the fire stoked up with coal, I have a nice joint of beef to cook and coupled with a bottle of red should warm things nicely up for me :)

Nice setup Ken! I will find some pickies of my setup to posty later on, though it is pretty much exactly the same as yours - I use our 'recycling' box for the light shield for the lappy whislt imaging. Like you, different times of the year means different positions of the setup in the garden...

In the UK clasifying seeing conditions is relatively straight forward... Most of the time seeing is poor, on a few dozen or so occasions throughout the year seeing is average, then on a handfull of days in the year seeing is good... At any other time it is raining... :whistle:
