Superb images, Christian. Very impressive indeed. I think there is also further detail buried in the image data which I'm sure people on this forum would love to have a go at retrieving. FDs and deeper view 20th March 2016

I was really struggling this morning to get anything worthwhile, even with my Lunt60 THa as seeing was poor and I just couldn't seem to achieve the degree of focus and contrast that I was totally happy with. Still, this was the first solar imaging session for a while and I was determined to at least...

G2 Geomagnetic Storm from CME impact

G2 geomagnetic storm resulting from a CME impact, here captured on my magnetometer in the UK and compared with professional data from France (Chambon la Foret). Very interesting, Peter. Would you prefer the data in excel format? BTW, I've now converted the data into sound using MIDI to create a solar wind sound. Re: Significant Solar Storm 6th March

Thanks Mike/Peter. Peter, it's an interesting thought. I could send you the data, no problem. Basically it's just a CSV file of time vs frequency, or I could send it as an excel file. As for the physical origin, the interplanetary magnetic field, as measured by ACE and presented by NOAA, showed wild...

Re: need some help

It looks like you did capture the minor event (the shape is correct). Radio Skypipe does a lot of auto-rescaling, so even minor signals show as large events until a larger event happens and everything else is downscaled in comparison. The trick is to always ensure that your clock is accurately set a...

Re: Significant Solar Storm 6th March

Many thanks, Derek, Mark, Mike and Alexandra. Mike. I don't know if your magnetometer is still up and running, but you might want to change the filter value in the spread sheet (cell H4) from the default value to maybe 25-35 in order to enable the chart to display the magnetic perturbations properly...
